Green Benz and Grease Benz are two different things, thankfully.

Green Benz lives in LA and Grease Benz is run by my friend Jay in Austin. Jay is one of the best people I have ever met, the two are total opposites.

I recommend you use his heated filter tek, it will eliminate having to heat the oil on your stove and all that nasty filtering.

Oh, and another thing...

any tips on finding a place to snag 55gal drums on the cheap?

I could use a couple plastic ones to turn into composters and I'm sure I could find a good use for a metal one or two.

I say get an electic pump with a filter on the end. Then use that to collect the grease from the venue or what ever.
Or at least use an eclectic pump for filtering instead of pouring through a filter.

Actually if you can filter it while picking it up you could just pump it right into your tank. But I guess it would be smart to test it before running it.

that's actually a bad idea, poses hazzards for yourself and
others, imagine oil in the back of your truck because it's been
sloshing out from under the top, few trashcans seal well, now
imagine that all over the road and the liability you face if it
causes an accident and when there's oil on the road, there's
usually several

the IBC (intermediate bulk container) that CN is using is a
better option, probably the best short of a custom welded tank,
they have a 3" ball valve so draining isnt an issue, most hold
about 350 gallons and they have a small mouth that would reduce
spills if by chance you lose the cap, a plastic 55 gallon drum
would be your next best bet, it can be plumbed for a valve and
also has a small bung opening/cap for filling and often times
they can be bought for $10-$20

i would never pump right into my tank, i think that is an excellent way to ruin your engine.

filtering and dewatering properly is pretty key to not ruining your car.

also, i would never be able to heat the amount of oil i pull from dumpsters purely because the volume is too high. i have a gas powered pump that can fill a 55 gallon drum in about 5 minutes.

my goal is to be in and out of the dumpster as quick as possible, getting a large amount of oil.

i pulled up about 100 gallons the other day in just an hour and a half, which you can see in the tote pictured above.

i dont mind spending a few hours back at my shop making shure its done right.

If you can get some methanol and sodium hydroxide (or potassium hydroxide) you could make biodiesel. you just gotta do a titration to get the right amounts for the specific oil youre going to be using. it's all on this website:

the cool thing about making biodiesel is that you get a byproduct of glycerol, and if you refine it to 99.5%+ purity by distilling, you can sell it to plastics companies.
