well, im not sure about that part, but i was running 2 gas deep fryers at full throttle for an hour a piece. its still a hell of a lot cheaper than $225 :smile:

I wouldn't say you made fuel out of vegetable oil. That'd be the case if you had actually processed the oil into biodiesel. Semantics, but all you did was dry the oil.

and filter it, and as i can pour it directly into my tank, and my car will run (atleast in this warm weather)

i would say that i turned it into fuel.

semantics or not, its still going to save me some $$$

It was already "fuel" before you filtered and dried it. You could have poured it into your tank without those steps, albeit to poor outcome. You just made the fuel cleaner and easier to use.

It will save tons of money. I plan on buying a Greasecar kit in the next month or so. Diesel around here has been hovering at $4.20 but I know the price will jump in a few weeks.

not at all, suspended water and particles would have ruined my engine in 5 minutes FLAT.

I disagree, greasecar is good but it's a little less refined for
the idiots, comparison will show you that grease car was well
researched compared to many others but there are some design
flaws that will turn out to be a major headache, pex fuel lines
for instance will serve about 6-7 years max under stresses of
driving, pex lines are engineered to carry water in stationary
dwellings and other than PVC I've not seen plastic that last
more than 15 years in normal use,

there's also an excess of plumbing, the more lines you have the
more leaks that can occur, locations of fitting will become a
major issue, ever had to change an in tank fuel pump? and
believe me, I'm not knocking greasecar to promote another
manufacturer because greasecar does offer some parts which I
consider to be superior

I have met several people that have ordered frybrid kits, and then waited over 4 months, with their money gone, and no kit.

when they called to ask about the status of their kit, they were told to go to hell, and had their money sent back to them. Their customer service is SHIT.

greasecar does use PEX fuel lines, which has a wide variety of uses, including home heating (i have pex in my basement floor for heating)

Also, there are no in tank fuel pumps with greasecar.

and there is no proof that these grease lines will break after 7 years.

alcohol will absorb the water in gasoline and still be burnable,
if the water makes it past the injectors as just water, you'll
notice it's really not fuel anymore

there are in tank compression fittings with greasecar, now imagine
that fuel pump cant be removed but has to be repaired inside the
tank... the fuel pump analogy wasnt meant to say there was, just
to show you one of the headaches you may encounter

how many years as a journeyman did you work/study before you got
your plumbers license? how long have you been a mechanic?
how long have you been selling/installing greasecar rigs?


Shell Oil developed polybutelene pipe, there was millions of
miles of the shit layed in ground, inside of 15 years most of
these pipes were breaking, the town I live in has a leak at
least once a week because they adopted the polybutelene pipe
when they removed the rotting iron, anyway the pipe expands and
contract more than steel, copper and PVC, pex can 'stretch' more
than 2 inches over a few hundred feet, this equals excessive
wear, pex also baloons causing the crimp to loosen. Pex is a problem, I have it in my home, as shit breaks and starts to leak, it's replaced with copper... ask a plumber about pex

for the record, I dont condone the use of PVC for applications
that are mobile I also dont advise the use of ANY rigid or
semi-rigid plastics for mobile applications, abrasion,
expansion, heat deterioration are all reasons to avoid it as
fuel line


a few minor changes and I'd say that greasecar tops all others,
now about those dissaisfied customers, did they drive fords?

You know, I happen to have some lye, methanol, and labware laying around. I've been mulling over the idea of a test batch just to see if I can do it. I even have the air pump and airstones from a now-disused aquarium that could be used to bubble-wash the result.

Should I go for it? Is it easy? Any tips?

In England you're allowed a certain number of miles using biodiesel or veggie oil without having to pay taxes.

well, tomorrow i have to drive about 680 miles, ill use about 35 gallons....

i just cubed up about 40 or so into their little carrying containers, and i think that ill probably whip up that other 50 gallons tonight so that i have it on standby. some band from NY is heading my way and wants to get some oil from me saturday for their trip home.

and yes, they did nail someone for tax evasion, a few people, illinois is a bitch of a state. however, that changed when someone took their case all the way up the line to a higher court, which has allowed the use of home made fuels in IL. i think that the gentelmans name was wetzel, or somthing to that nature.


and konradde, google this "tilly Dr pepper" it should get you to a tek made by this chick tilly which allows you to make a good small 2 Liter batch of bio-d

I recommend doing the heating and filtering step under the hood of your car. It makes sense to do it there since you already have to heat it and filter it there anyway.

My friends have been using this method for a long time with no problems. They take the oil from the dumpster, strain it with a screen (like window mesh) and put it into the tank unfiltered.

After the heat exchanger heats it up, they put it through two heated filters. The filters are chosen to be cheap and easy to obtain at any auto parts store. The first stage is a real cheap oil filter and the second stage is a fuel filter to get the smaller particles.
