I have accomplishment issues.
    #8285081 -

Seriously.

For as long as I can remember I've had some serious accomplishment issues. I Start a million different things but never finish one. I can't tell you how many old car projects i've passed along, never to be completed. Wood projects, metal art projects, anything and everything, for myself, for others, everything. Either passed alone,or just left to rot/collect dust.

The few(very few) times i've actually really completed something in life, i nearly always feel a sudden rush of elated-ness, then a deep melancholy. it's as is my head likes things being undone,as if there is always more to do. When i finish, it's done...done and gone. I dont know it's fucking re-damn-diculous. I just hit a wall at some point. No matter how hard, I just never get past it.

This is all exacerbated by the fact that i haven't had anything to work on in forever. I've been doing lots of work on a friends ride, but nothing for myself. I've been trying to pull something cheap and easy just to gain some since of worth , chopping up a beetle, or something, but there's always something stopping things these days.

It's to the point( for a year or so now) that if I even go across town to ship something, or get groceries, the simplest mundane tasks done, I feel Like i just cured fucking cancer. How this clashes with the opposite emotions from completing a tangible task( ie: Build a car, skate, furnature, whatever), I can't work out.

I don't know, I'm Fucking weird.

I'm sure many would say, "well just fucking finish something" But hopefully others understand that fucked up barrier.

Thoughts?

I feel pretty dumb for making this thread...

You remind me a lot of my ex. She always had a billion different projects she was working on, but she never completed them or if she did they always turned out horrible.

For her, I think the reason she was doing it was to prove something to herself. She felt inadequate in some way and by undertaking all these projects she was able to prove her worth to herself.

I'm old enough now to where I realize, if you really want to accomplish something, you will find a way.

If you catch yourself procastinating, making up excuses, feeling unmotivated, odds are that you honestly do not feel compelled interally to go through with completing or pursuing it. When I am really passionate about something, I notice that I always find time to work on it, whether I'm driving to work, got only 2 hours of sleep the prior night, or maybe even hungover.

I think you need to start being more honest with yourself and learn to feel complacent with who you really are. All the projects and accomplishments in the world do not make you a better person unless you are nice and caring.

*Here is a video completely unrelated to your question. I've just been jamming out to old 80's tunes this morning.

I have the same issue. I think it's pretty common... what a pain in the ass. Try writing to do lists. Maybe take on fewer projects and just stubbornly stick to one little thing at a time. You gotta change patterned behaviour and that can be tricky.
