hmm..it was 1 pint spread out in a 21x13x4 pan, filled to the top with a 1/3 inch casing probably. Don't really want to try and see how that converts as far as volume, probably faster than me typing this though...you get the picture i hope

Very nice grow my man!!!!
I love the power supply thing.
I use a PC to power my 12volt DC fridge, I connected the wire through the case to the fan supply and then use a fan control app to control the temp.
Again, very nicely done.

sounds interesting, may i ask what you use your fridge for? just storage of lc, agar etc? do you control temperature through a program on your computer (kinda like an automated martha)?

I use it to store my LC and to do cold shock when and if I do that.
And yes, I use a fan speed control app. It basically changes the voltage to the fridge just as it would a PC fan, really easy.
Its called speedfan by the way, you'll have to try it to see if it works on you board or not.

Heres my layout:

Two powerstrips epoxy'ed together, with 365 watts of floro's - 8 26'ers and 4 52'ers plugged in using wal-mart outlet to light fixture adapters. (The problem is, you have to get that amount of lights in BOTH daylight spectrum and natural light spectrum. The daylight - blue - for vegetative and the natural - red/yellow - for flowering.)

Ran lights 18/6 for 2 months, then 12/12 for about 3 months.

Had it in a cardboard box with those fans you see drying the mushrooms out (8 at 90 cfms - 265 for intake, 445 for exhaust) to keep down temps. and strengthen stems (avg. temp. of 82 degrees).

Just covered the inside of the box with printer paper and had a reflector around the lights made of aluminum foil.

Used promix bx soil with a pan underneath to catch runoff water. Used Foxfarms big grow and some of their tiger bloom fertilizers but ran out fast of tiger bloom and was broke and didn't buy anymore (definitely lost some yield bc of that).

I topped the plant once at the fifth node (where a new set of leaves form) to have two main stems instead of one.

Watered based on how much the pot weighed when lifted (you get a feel for it)

Thats pretty much it, any q's? I wouldn't mind helping you out at all

yes light is one of the factors needed to induce pining but natural sunlight coming in from the window would work fine, i just figured, that light would be to intense, or hot , either way. it just seems like it can cause problems that aren't needed.(especially if you use allot of electricity in your house for other reasons.)

damn nice work with what you had to work with! thats a lot of flouros, i would recommend getting a ballast and a 400 wt hps bulb someday. definetly safer, but expensive! all in all would you say it was easier or harder than growing shrooms? ive grown shrooms with great success and want to grow my own smoke to save money.. im sure it cant be too much harder..

That part of the thread really belongs in the ethnobotanical garden forum, but anyhow...

How did you decide when to cut it? By the look of it you let it mature a bit too long. You should use a microscope or good magnifying glass and cut when most trichomes are milky white. If you pick it after that (caramel coloured trichomes) the weed will have too much CBD and have a lot of body effect.

@grod - It was just one 26 watt floro, definitely not too much light and produces little to no heat. Also there aren't any windows and it draws less electricity than 1 incandescent bulb

@hazey - like you said, TOO expensive! I couldn't justify buying one of those, I wouldn't have made my money back with 1 grow and thats all my roomates are letting me do. You gotta get an mh and hps bulb, reflector, and ballast. Also the heat they produce are wicked, you have to have some serious ventilation capabilities.

Yeah, I do think weed is harder than shrooms. It's much more finnicky, smells up your house, takes way longer, and uses far more electricity. And the light cycles are hell - I grew it in my closet and couldn't turn my lights on in there for 12 hours every night, very annoying. With shrooms it doesn't matter at all.

If you want to smoke the finest herb you've ever smoked, buy some seeds and grow it. If you want to save money, I'd say just grow more shrooms and get the weed with that mulah.

@Nibin - Your getting the "hairs" mixed up with the trichromes. The hairs have no indication of readiness, yes they turned a dark orange, but they could have turned purple or green depending on strain. I have a microscope and waited until trichromes were about 1/3 clear, 1/3 milky, 1/3 amber - I like a good head high with some body undertones.
