It would be like trying to catch a greased pig. I am going to start some small training in this tomorrow. I am going climbing and the boulder fields will be a good place to try those leap grabs that they are doing in those videos. I haven't been this interested in something this much since Elijah was born!:)

this is why i want to get good at it, im decent now, not nearly as good as those guys, but i can shuck and jive pretty well   you never know when you may need to run for your life.  did you guys know that his father developed the early stages of parkour for the french military??

i have also read that our military is contracting with parkour instructors to train our soldiers the art of parkour.

youre going to get addicted bliss. i know i am. not only is it fun, it will snap you into amazing physical shape, and it can become a practical skill when needed.

No ninja's arsenal is complete without parkour skills.

It looks like it would be a blast to learn but they must get injured a lot.

Actually, you'd be surprised. Parkour people tend to get hurt a lot less often and less severely than say... skateboarders. I'd say that is mostly due to the training involved and the first thing you learn (if you're smart) is how to take a bad fall, roll with it and use your natural impact resistance areas (i.e - protect the neck, bend the knees to cushion impact and roll onto shoulder if necessary). Same thing you learn in martial arts. And most people practice on grass. Of course if some idiot goes out there and just tries to do a backflip off a ledge onto concrete without any experience whatsoever he could very likely break his neck or crack his head open. But I've been fucking with parkour for a couple years now and I haven't been seriously hurt yet. On the contrary every fucking time I do some construction work I end up getting fucked up.

well what i meant by that is that ninjas must have used a similar style of moving around and evasion.

and yeah, if you start out small, learning the basics, then work your way up in skill and intensity, and as long as you never go beyond what you know is capable, they rarely get hurt. only dumbasses who watch youtube videos and then try 12 foot drops without any physical training or practice get hurt.

if you know how to impact, at what height impact is impossible and rolling should be used, its pretty easy. i safely landed a 10ft drop the other day

Yeah.. from what I know of ninja training.. it is similar to parkour in many ways. I would say the ninja training is a little more disciplined.

Nice on the 10 ft drop
I'm getting pretty good at the double wall climb.. I can do a front flip pretty well but I lack the balls to try a serious back flip yet. Most people learn those in gymnasiums..

yeah, thats all i was saying, that the ninjas were like traceurs, but more badass

yeah it was fun, it was off of a cinderblock wall of a garage that was uncomplete at the house i was building a pool.  my boss thought i was crazy when i first told him about parkour, now ive got him trying it whenever we can at work

same here, i can front flip, and i can run up a wall and backflip, but i wont attempt a free backflip.... one of these days when i get the time id like to join a gym and learn some gymnastics.
