To me, it means both abortion and marijuana should be left up to the states. I'm pro-choice, on everything, abortion, drugs, pornography, prostitution, clothing, what-the-fuck ever...but I would still be willing to accept the liberties lost in fucked up retardo states like Florida for the liberties gained in places like Colorado. Or Alabama and California or --- I don't know for sure which states would be best but I'm saying I would trade letting poor women get butchered by back alley abortions down south if I could legally fire it up out west.

Tell that to women here in Georgia. The reason Abortion is still a national issue is because of the "implied powers" of the constitution. Just because it isn't explicitly written in the constitution doesn't mean the national government has no control over it. The magnitude of the abortion issue immediately implies that it is a national issue, and since its not a geographic issue at all it doesn't make sense for it to be arbitrarily legalized or unlegalized based on state boundaries.

Weed on the other hand...STATES RIGHTS!!!!

The law of the land before Roe vs Wade was "abortions are illegal"

Are you saying that abortions should go back to being illegal?

Because it violates separation of powers. Its not the courts business to be legislating, as Redstorm said. If you want abortion to be legal, the house and senete should be the one to make it legal. Otherwise you are supporting action that violates separation of powers, like when bush does warrantless wiretaps, or when the legislator puts in mandatory minimums.

Favoring the liberal side of one highly controversial topic does not warrant negating a vital aspect of our country's defense against tyranny, checks and balances.

Not to ratify, but to create a law determining what the status of abortion should be. That sort of thing should not be left up to the Supreme Court, due to their inability to represent the American people.

If there's no law against it, it's legal. If there is a law against it, it can be challenged in the courts to determine its constitutionality, just like any other law.
