History

So basically I never payed attention during history classes so I didn't learn a lot of important information about the history of the human race. Is there a good book out there that condenses this information for somebody like me who doesn't like to waste time and wants to not be ignorant about history?

That would be a tall order.

After one comes, through contact with it's administrators, no longer to cherish greatly the law as a remedy in abuses, then the bottle becomes a sovereign means of direct action.  If you cannot throw it at least you can always drink out of it.  - Ernest Hemingway

If it is life that you feel you are missing I can tell you where to find it.  In the law courts, in business, in government.  There is nothing occurring in the streets. Nothing but a dumbshow composed of the helpless and the impotent.    -Cormac MacCarthy

He who learns must suffer. And even in our sleep pain that cannot forget falls drop by drop upon the heart, and in our own despair, against our will, comes wisdom to us by the awful grace of God.  - Aeschylus

It depends. What aspect of history are you interested in? Cultures, human advancement, technology, religion, war, conquest, love, peace, hate, genocide, environment, industry, dr00gz? There's a whole lot of history out there, care to be a little more specific?

ishi by kroeber, the peoples history of the united states by howard zinn, bury my heart at wounded knee by dee brown, killing hope by william blum,in the spirit of crazy horse by peter matthiessen. that'll give you a starting point for american history.there's no way you can get it all in one book. you're going to have to read hundreds if not thousands of books to get even a fraction of human history. maybe just enroll in some community college history classes or cultural anthropology. just go to a bookstore or library and pick some books out that seem interesting to you. living in america though, you should at least learn about our history from many points of view.
