edit: it is only happening to me now when i use the mouse over feature, it sucks because i have to click on it to continue and when i click on it the mouse over goes away.

What browser and version are you guys using? So far it seems to work properly everywhere I've tested it. A temporary fix would probably be to set "Mark post as read after being previewed for how many seconds" to "0" in your display preferences. But I'd like to figure out the root cause of the problem.

i'm using the latest firefox. i don't get the popup but sometimes when i preview a thread i can only see one post and i don't have the little arrows to move to another post. you know the little triangles to move forward/backward through the posts? i guess it's related to this problem.

Man, I just can't seem to duplicate it, even logged in as you and using IE7. :frown: Did anything change on your end? Because I haven't touched the script since it was working...

Firefox 2.0.0.12 right? Can you please e-mail me a copy of your prefs.js file from c:\Documents and Settings\Your Name\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\somestring.default\? (My address is ythan at shroomery.org.) Also what extensions are you running, and are you using any internet security software which might scan or block web content?

I'm also experiencing this little problem. I have internet explorer 7 and Ive got windows xp profesh. It only seems to happen when previewing a thread.
oh and I've got a norton antivirus 360 which has an internet "fraud monitor" that scans most webpages.
Hope you can get to the bottom of it!

Happened with me once just under an hour ago. I spent a lot of time reading yesterday and today but that's the only time it has happened with me. This is one of my older computers running XP and IE 6. Must be pretty random.

I never saw this popup untill a few days ago. Now I get it in spates. I was looking at the science board tonight, using mouseovers, then I'd get the popup. Would click and it would come back a few seconds later. Would even click to close the popup, switch tabs on the browser, and then the browser woudl switch back to shroomery to hit me with the popup a few seconds after I switched tabs. Then I'd switch to nonshroomery tab and it would happen again.

Fun

Not a huge problem though. Just weird that it only happens every so often when browsing a forum w/ mouseovers, or even when the mouse hits a thread for a second.

Firefox 2.0.0.12; Windows xp pro

btw, what is the point of the popup anyways? If it doesn't involve state secrets... I'm curious

1. Install firefox
2. google "adblock" and "filterset G" (firefox plugins)
3. install all the above apps
4. never worry about seeing another ad or popup again.
5. remove all IE shortcuts.

That's not bad advice in general but it won't help with this problem. Also Filterset.G is outdated, Adblock Plus + EasyList is a superior replacement. Remember to support the sites you visit frequently and add them to your whitelist.

i think i read somewhere that adblock plus eats memory if you leave ff open too long. not exactly sure the reason, but i know i have a good one for using the old stuff.

IE is the absolute worst browser, it should only be used to go to firefox.com

if you think you HAVE to use IE, just install firefox and get the IE plugin, ff will emulate it.

r311ik do you seriously think every person on here is going to change to firefox? if the problem is still happening to people with explorer then obvously something still needs to be fixed.

by the way Ythan, it hasn't happened to me since my last post.
