Does my bankrupt former employer have to pay me?

So Friday was an eventful day for me. It was capped by having sex with the HPV girl, but before that rare event for me happened (sex), I lost my job. I am now unemployed for the first time in almost 9 years. The company I worked for was forced into bankruptcy on Friday, which was payday. For some reason, everyone who had direct deposit got paid and those who get live checks, got shit. So that's two weeks of pay that they haven't received so far. Then, because it was the start of a new pay period, no employees got paid for this last week that we worked. So some people worked 3 weeks for free, basically. Luckily, I'm only out one week of pay and my accrued vacation hours (over 40).

My question is, do you think we'll get paid? Does bankruptcy allow the employer to avoid paying everyone for what they're owed? Thanks.

it may absolve the companies debts, then again you need to see the
paperwork, it should be on file at the courthouse

yes... but if the company filed bankruptcy then there may be some
payout to the employees that havent been paid, you'll need to go
to the courthouse and find out what the decision was

It could be that you will not get paid. Thats what bankruptcy is, you basically get to legally screw over people you owe money to. Bankruptcy is shittie, and you may be a victim of it. If its alot of money, maybe get a lawyer and try to get your pay before they hide/spend it all.
