Mushrooms are in season mostly during the fall. There are a few types of hallucinogenic mushrooms that supposedly grow here: Psilocybe caerulips, Psilocybe sylvatica, psilocybe semilanceata, Gymnopilus spectabilis, Amanita muscaria, Panaeolus foensecii (I think) and probably a few others but that's all I can think of right now. I didn't find any this year, but hopefully that will change next year if I go to B.C.------------------

I was in pembroke ontario in sept and picked a garbage bag full of portabella's, growing mostly on a buffalo farm i used to live near. Alot in the cow fields too.

paneolina foenisecci DOES grow there as it grows absolutely evrywhere but thats besides the point. forgo the quest for these because the only thing you will feel is silly. they arent halucinogenic. they do have a halucinogenic look alike that i think you could find in the spring summer and early fall, but ive never been in ontario during those months nor heard of any reference to their presence in ontario. but what i think you want is Paneolus Subbaltaetus. growing on rotted haybails and manure/mix. after rains, the warmer the better.Psilocybe caerulips seems like more of a coastal mushroom. but if youre finding them, good stuff  as far as aminita muscaria goes, i've tried the formosa variety many times with nauseating results. however my good friend swears the red caps are a terriffic experience, so if you find A Muscaria, my advice is to only bother with the red variety ------------------
