ok i found these on my lawn growing by a big maplke leaf tree stump the spore prints are jet black and these have no vail

Mica caps...edible...but I don't think they look tasty...so I never eat them.

StInvetroThomas has it... Coprinus micaceus, also known as Mica Caps. They are a kind of inky cap - they will often degenerate into ink-like slime in a few hours. This particular species is one of the few inky caps which can dry out before turning to slime. They are edible if you get them while the gills are still white. Nothing spectacular, but they sometimes occur in large enough numbers to make it worthwhile. Once the gills start changing color they become inedible in my opinion.
