so i have wireless in my house here but for soem reason my connection will not stay connected. i dont think it has to do with distance because no one else seems to have this problem. it continually disconnects and reconnects. i cant download anything of decent size without it crapping out, i cant stream videos without having to continually restart them, etc. its driving me mad. any suggestions?
it tells me signal strength is excellent etc...so wtf?

Are you on windows? do you have auto DHCP enabled? Is your computer free of malware?

If you have a wireless phone, try unplugging it during these fits

ya try changing ssid channels or something.. try moving the router closer to your computer.. and put the router up as high as possible.. always works for me.
also, make sure you have some type of authentication/password on your router so it's not public broadcast.

Ya, is that shit secured? Is the router dhcp cap setting large enough?
Or maybe you already fixed it, and feel no need to reply here. Fine! We don't need you either!

dont bother unpluggging your phone...
change your ssid channel if you're going to fck with that..
just fix router positioning..
and if it doesn't help.. move the router into your room and say fuck all of them.. they can get their own router.

Most cheap wireless phones operate on 2.4 ghz.. same as 802.11
Then again.... even if yours isn't interfering... you probably live in an apt with a bunch of other people who have them

in your router config.. you can change the ssid channel.. best ones are 1, 6, and 11.
pick one.
just type in your router's ip in your browser window and if it asks for username/password
username is usually blank and password is usually 'admin' or..
username is admin and password is blank.. or both.
fuck with it for a little while.. you'll get it to work.
