Say a certain someone was interested in getting into Star Trek....
    #8017001 - 02/13/08 10:34 AM (16 years, 1 month ago)

Where would one start?

I never watched the show, and for that reason, found little interest in watching the movies. After seeing the previews for the next movie, I was inspired to explore the Star Trek universe.

So, all you fans, where's a good start for a newcomer?

Star Trek: The Next Generation is the cream o' the crop in my opinion. I'm not a huge fan of the uber-campy original series.

I'm no trekkie but the second series of the original show is fun.

i only like the original star trek. i'd say start with the movies. part 1 is a little slow, but reminiscent of 2001 a space odyssey. parts 2, 4, and 6 are all really awesome. you'll definitely enjoy them. much easier to get into the originals than the new ones in my opinion.

Film wise

Star Trek II The Wrath of Khan is probably the best

&

Star Trek IV The Voyage home is a good laugh

I always found the Next generation stuff a bit smug and self-satisfied.

TNG season one is cool, I just watched it with my family recently.
The original Star Trek is awesome, if you can get past the corniness.
I was also really into Star Trek: Voyager and Deep Space Nine for a while, when i was 12-14, and still watch Voyager episodes when they come on Scifi, mainly because 7 of 9 is smokin hot.

The Next Generation is the place to start. I suggest a smoking game along with it.:bongload:
