honey water for edibles?

i know most grow edibles starting with a culture. but, i have a lot of pheonix oyster prints. i would start them out on agar, but i am out of agar/plates.
i am getting ready for surgery, and will be off work for awhile, and i really dont want to spend the cash right now to buy more. so i was wondering, could i make a suspension w/ honey water like for cubes. would this work for my oyster spores too? any answer will be DEEPLY appreciated

I usually use a liquid culture for my edibles utilizing malt extract and H20. I have done shiitake, reishi and oysters this way. I don't see why your idea wouldn't work. Give it a shot, after all, isn't this about learning? If you would like to part ways with a print, I'd love one. PM me if you are willing. Good luck with the surgery...

I got commercial crimini flesh to produce mycelium in sugar water.....and I have no doubt that light dextrose would work too.

Maybe even adding a bit of yeast might be fun too
