Get a magnet out of a computer hard drive (they all have two) you'll need a torx screwdriver set or bit. use a newer one, the really old big seagate drives have magnets half an inch thick, great for fishing for stuff in lakes of off docks but too powerful for this
smack it on the back with a hammer or bend it in a vice to break the glue and let you get the magnet off
bust the magnet into about 16 pieces....careful it's sharp, peel off the nickel coating if it sticks up
glue them to the corners and sides along the rim of the first container
flip it and line up the magnets on the other container, they will "Snap" into place
 glue those too

All done! you can open your FC anytime without messing with 12 screws or bolts or whatever.only the magnet holds it shut.
This will be finished with weather stripping, if the magnets can't pull enough to make a perfect seal I'll add more. If crazy glue won't stick to your container rough it up with sand paper and use epoxy.
these magnets are crazy strong by the way, don't let your finger get trapped between two of them, especially when they still have the metal back on them

Thanks! The weather stripping has been added, I have it weighted so the foam creates a seat and makes a better seal, I will remove the books after the foam has had a chance to remember it's new shape. The lid won't lift up the base anymore cause the foam adds distance between the magnets but it still lines up with a satisfying pull. Why bother? So I can control the amount of light and where air goes in or out. I have some jars that have been sitting for a few weeks (I hope they are OK) this will be their new home. I can peek in on them as often as I like without messing with fasteners or nylon ties.

Why on earth would you want to seal a fruiting chamber? Fresh air is the number one pinning trigger. At no time in the life cycle does mycelium want stale air. Open your FC up so natural room currents can circulate in and out. RR

My air pump will change the air. I am also trying to keep my cats out, they tend to get into everything.
