Can you build a tolerance to shrooms?

My friend has been eating 3.5 grams every two weeks for the last 2 months. The first two trips were really visual and awesome, truly memorable. The last two were disappointing with noticably less visuals and subdued body buzz. The last time he even ate 35g fresh PES Hawaiian and this trip was disappointing as well, lack of visuals.

Anyone else notice decreasing effects like this? Perhaps my friend is tripping too often? Maybe every month would be better? Give me some feedback guys.

As your friend has observed, you can and do build up a tolerance to shrooms. Have your friend try waiting a month or two before taking shrooms again, and it will be almost as good as the frist time.

The adaptability of the mind is amazing. Sometimes it's good like when you learn to play a musical instrument or learn to ski. Other times it can be pesky such as when you develop a tolerance to drugs. I believe people develop a tolerance to every drug whether it be physical like with opiates where it takes more to achieve the same high or psychologically with hallucinogens where the mind learns to compensate for the effects of the drug. The problem with most drugs my friends and I have tried is that the first 10 or so times are the best and then after that you are chasing what you once felt but can never recapture.

CNS tolerance to psilocybin (as well as other tryptamine hallucinogens) begins within a few hours after dosing and lasts at least a couple weeks. The tolerance is also cumulative and will reach a point of total tolerance where NO AMMOUNT of drug will have an effect. I've read that if you dose constantly (come down and take more) you will reach 100% tolerance within three days.

Another point I should make is that there is a cross-tolerance between many of the hallucinogens. When you take mushrooms, your tolerance also goes up for LSD, Mescaline, DMT, and probably most serotonergic drugs as well.

Your best bet is to wait at LEAST two weeks between trips.

I wonder if shrooms are the same as LSD in the way that u can eat 4 hits one day when u come down eat 5 more and it won't do anything to you at all...are shrooms the same way?If you eat them the next day after a trip do they work at all?

Where were you getting this "mescaline"? Do you mean cactus? Pure mescaline has never existed on the street. A dealer usually calls something "mescaline" when he wants to charge twice as much for the same shit he sells you as "acid" the day before.

100% tolerance, how long would that take to work back down?

Two or three months should do the trick... just personal observation, no real science to back up this claim.

Not sure about LSD, as I haven't tried it, but shrooms I find it takes at LEAST 2 weeks before I feel that my tolerance has worn off.

I've come fairly close to 100% tolerance on one occaision. Dosed three nights in a row, increasing the dose each night. The third night (with the strongest dose, 6g I think it was) was a really low-end trip with no good visuals at all. It was NOTHING close to the trip I had the first night, and that was only 2g. Waited three weeks before tripping again and didn't notice any tolerance by then.
