Anyone actually read them? I went on today (usually I go on every weekday but I haven't been in a while) to see what they've reviewed, anyone I know/like, what they gave it. I learned a looooong time ago they're pretentious assholes, so I never read the reviews. Today I go there and read the Eels review. It's a fucking history lesson about the Eels. Look, Pitchfork, I don't give a fuck about Novocaine for the Soul being a hit in 1996, I clicked on the review to read a fucking review.

Then I go on to read Hi-Tek's review. Same fucking thing, a damned history lesson. What the hell is wrong with you people?!?! Finally I get to Lupe Fiasco's The Cool (which I've heard great things about but haven't heard yet) and see it gets an 8.1. "Oh" I think to myself "maybe this will be a positive review and it won't include a history lesson." Wrong. While it wasn't a history lesson, the first two paragraphs just went on lambasting the fact that while it's purportedly a concept album, the concept isn't there. What the fuck, guys? Give an album an 8.1, which is pretty damn good by your standards, and then waste my time talking shit about it? I didn't bother reading the rest of the review because they lost me.

I know, I know, Pitchfork is a shitty excuse for music journalism, but seriously, how the fuck are they so popular? I feel like I could do an infinitely better job.

I read pitchfork reviews if I'm bored, and I go to the site itself because they actually do have some pretty useful news

Pitchfork media is a factory of the idea of "cool", therefore I think that there in the pockets of economic players in the music biz. Cool sells, so the reviews are hot garbage.
