So I'm probably getting a british bulldog.

Were 1 of 2 families being considered by a rescue center. The dog is said to be healthy and happy, couple split and didn't want him. The breeder is from out of country so they have no bg info, which is the only thing im worried about because bulldogs are known to have health issues from crappy breeders. He's also 9 months already.

thats not bad. i know those dogs can cost as much as 3,000 bucks. throw some money and get em' check out. does it already have a name? you should post some pics.

I think even bulldogs from good breeders are prone to health problems...that's a particularly deeply inbred breed from what I understand, and they have lots of liver/kidney/leg problems.

It does already have a name but i'll probably change it. Yea, 'i've read they're prone to hip/knee problems, cherry eye, bad skin.

I've been researching dog food and the industry is fucked up, so i'm thinking i will make fresh food for him. Dog chow is setting him up for disease and illness early on.

One of my friends owns a british bulldog and they are lovely looking dogs but unfortunately his has had a number of health problems. I would get the dog checked out and if everything seems to be fine, go for it!
