New fert idea

I drink a lot of V8 vegetable juice, about 2 of those 46oz bottles a week. Every time you finish off a bottle, you're always left with that red film of juice leftovers on the sides of the bottle. I got the idea to fill the bottle with water, shake it all around, and pour the reddish tinted water into my planters as a fertilizer. There's tons of veggie vitamins and minerals in that stuff, and it seems to break down fast in the soil. Within two days of adding half a bottle to my Morning Glories they immediately looked better and started to flower, several of my other plants look much improved too. This seems like the perfect quick and cheap fert solution, assuming you already drink vegetable juice. What do you people think about this? Can there be any downside that I'm not seeing? Give it a try and see if your plants don't improve almost overnight.

I get the salt free V8. I don't know if the preservatives can harm the plants or not, but the juice seems to break down in a hurry once it's in the soil.

I always rinse the bottle out with vodka and down the resulting mixture. Then I piss in the rose garden (urea = nitrogen).

One thing that jumps to mind is that you're adding a substance that is just as yummy to mold, bacteria and fungi as it is to your plants (more sugars!). Therefore, you're probably running the risk increasing pathegeon attack.

The normal phosphorus/potasium/nitroen + trace elements mixtures won't encourage that stuff nearly as much.
