Quoiyaien, what kind of attendance did you have at this job up until this point?  What kind of relationship did you have with your co-workers and supervisor?  I'm not trying to come down on you, but it sounds like there must be more to this story.

Its not just the getting sick, in the last year I have had to miss 6 weeks total (2 surgeries, and other complications) due to a serious ankle injury.  I was good friends with all my coworkers, I even met my boss for a beer (sometimes we'd drink together at work) on multiple occasions.  To be honest, I think they were doing me a favour.  I was stuck in a serious rut and they knew I had loftier ambitions than to be stuck teaching in a small-town guitar store forever. 

But the whole thing was a shock.  There was no warning of any kind, just a month ago they were talking about making me the in store "sound engineer".  I was the in-store gear-head as I knew more about the products than anyone else in the store, and was called in to assist in gear recommendations on multiple occasions. 

So as it stands, I have no friggin clue why I got fired other than "your missing too much work, and its not fair to your students".  Oh well, fuck it.  I have better things to do now.

Plus its all for the better.  After holding a guitar for 6 hours a day teaching, the last thing I wanted to do was play guitar for myself.  My own music suffered immensely.  Why just today and yesterday, I played guitar for hours, and totally remembered why I love the instrument so much.  Now I have lots of time for my bands, and now have a better chance to pursue this girl I am totally interested in (we had completely conflicting schedules before)

Its a blessing really.  The more I think about it, the more i realize that this is the best thing that could have happened.  I will have no problem finding work.  I know lots of recording studios in the area and will have time to take on more studio session work.  I already have 2 gigs lined up!  Plus, I am good friends with the manager of the BIG music store in my city, and he has all kinds of connections in the music industry. 

Now I am a musician.  Not a music teacher.  The quote "Those that can, do.  And those that can't, teach."  Really hit me this morning.  I can do this.  My music is ready to explode onto the scene.
