MJ, what substrate are those stunzii's growing in? Were they naturalized or did you just happen to find them growing sporadically? In general, how strong are subs compared to cubes? What about Pan cyan? Do you think .6 g's would be enough for a bioassay? Would you personally consume pan cyans that was completely conataminated with a foul-smelling contam that is blue in the middle and white on the perimeter?

Azure, what kind of casing did you use for the pan cyan's? I just had basically the same contam problem (except mine was blue/green with a white perimeter). I am thinking it had something to do with the type of casing I used (peat/lime/vermiculite unsterilized). Anyway, the contam in my case was very localized if it was caught early and so shrooms growing on the other side of the pan seemed unaffected by it. The shrooms that were affected by it simply aborted so in short I am not eating the aborts and I think I may try the ones that matured and were far away from the crap.

Hi that is straw compost or pasturized wheat straw which was covered with a tarp and they appeared at the edge of the tarp. Panaeolus subbalteatus is a mushroom whose prinmmary habitat is dung and straw. More so in rotted hay left out all winter to compost. They are on a gram for gram basis as potent as P. cubensis which is basically the weakest of the shrooms. 3 to five grams dried or one fresh ounce or more for a dosage equivelant to a Mazatec Indian ceremonial dosage. mjshroomer That was Mycot's compost. a fifty piound bag is $100.00 and everyone who uses it has noce big cubies like you see me posting in the forums here. write email: mycot@yahoo.com, tell them I sent you their way. mj

Sha, come to think of it, the contam did turn green after it attacked the Pan cy mycelium. I had the same thing you had. I used peat and lime-it was pre-made. Despite the contam, all areas infected had mature specimens. It was very localized at first, but cutting it away would mean I would have to take it out of the container, and the giant "cake" would be in jeopardy of breaking. If the mycelial network is disturbed, it takes a while to revcover, and that would leave room for contamination problems. I was pretty screwed once I saw it. In addition, if I were to cut it out, there would be damaged Pan mycelium, which would almost 100% guaranteed contaminate.
