Study habits
    #7718129 - 12/05/07 12:25 AM (16 years, 1 month ago)

I'll smoke an undertermined amount of weed, eat nothing but junkfood, then wander amlessly for a good number of hours while listening to music and pass out when I get back

Then, with the distractions out of the way, it's time to study stuff!

Also, if I'm having trouble writing an essay, like the words just wont come out, writing short stories having to do with murder and suicide is usually pretty good

Procrastinating all day and busting ass all night is my standard methodology.

normally I just study like 2 hours before the tests and always get away with it lol.. I just write stuff there like if I was an expert and it seems to "convince" the teacher that I'm right..´xD

That shit doesn't usually work in college.

yeah there's no way.

i try to keep up more or less as i realized i'm a terrible procrastinator and it just wasn't going to cut it. i'm good at staying on top of my science classes, but the heavy reading courses like polysci i get screwed in... as i am right now

I procrastinate like hell, but I can get by. I'm damn good at writing papers, but horrid at math. I've been able to pull a C in my stats class, last math class I'll ever have to take, just by studying the night before, or even the morning of.

I have all late classes, so I generally write papers late the night before, but it really works for me. I was blazed, started a paper at 2am the night before it was due, comparing a book I haven't read to a movie I have seen. 2 hours later, paper is done. A week later, the teacher hands it back, says "great job, thank you", and I see a nice big A on it.

But on average, my grades aren't as high as I want them to be, or as they should be, so I'm starting to work on that. I think the key is finding classes that you enjoy. Up until next semester I've taken nothing but core, so some major specific classes will be more interesting.

I like how you put it, "procrastinate all day, bust ass all night". I have a 5-10 minute presentation on Thursday, and I haven't even started research or the power point (It's on the general information about an occupation that I get to choose). I thought about starting it tonight, but guitar hero, porn, chatting online, shroomery, and grocery shopping all got in the way. Looks like I'll just have to start it tomorrow night.

I am a procrastinator as well. Most of the time I surf this site instead of working. I did get a 98% on my 7 page history paper that I wrote in one sitting without reading our outlining anything prior.

I'm pretty much the same way. Just scrapping by in math( a 56.5 % but it passes). Shit is ridiculous. My roommate is a math major and aces calculus all day long and has a 75 in this class. Fuck math. Actually fuck Asians who teach math and make the simplest material impossible. I can write papers very well though. Anyways, caffeine can help a lot. Adderall would help if I could get my hands on some though I have only had it once but it helped me pump out two papers in a night.

i HAVE to outline these days, for long papers at least. 6ish and under i can just sit down and type over the period of a few hours. but for longer papers lately, i've been spending more time outlining/taking notes than writing the actual paper.

word, IME middle easterns are much better at teaching math than Asians. As long as you can understand them.

Some days (or nights :smirk:) I can churn out papers and essays like it were nothin'
I'm sick of writing them ATM though and I can't wait 'till the holiday break.
Titled the last paper "Another Redundant Exercise in Making Correlations Between Things" :awesome:
Bet she's gonna love that    :cryariver:

anyone wanna read the intro to my paper and gimme some feedback? it's just over a page double spaced, but it is incredibly dry as the course for which i'm writing it is titled "formal organizations and bureaucracy". The claim being made in the paper is that a primary goal of youth sports organizations is the socialization of participating kids and that the goal manifests throughout various elements of the organization.

All I can say is thank God doctors diagnosed me with ADHD as a kid. Without it, I wouldn't have had dexedrine in college to pull all the all-nighters that saved me from my procrastination. Sometimes I think about going to the doctor and getting another prescription filled. I was always able to get so much work done on that stuff.

All I can say is I'm glad there are industrious kids in my class who don't mind sharing their work. Leaves me free to do important things like hunt cyans and smoke blunts :gethigh:
