What happened to the Shroomery?

I've been coming here for upward of 4 or 5 years now off and on, it just isn't the same. I can't say it was really ever for drug related information, but rather that the people here were open-minded, interesting, and above all else -- nice.

Where did all the nice, open-minded, interesting people go? Why does it seem now the forum is full of punk kids, racists, chauvinists, and people who generally hate everyone else?

Where is the real conversation? Hell, where is the foundation and camaraderie that the Shroomery was based on, when people would meet up and hang out because it was nice to be around kick ass people? I'd never go to a gathering now to meet half of you fuckers (of course there are exceptions) but really I feel like the forums have become hardly more than a cesspool of ignorance, immaturity, and negativity.

I know this sounds like whining, but, seriously I'm looking for honest and actual answers not just more of the bullshit. Normal people where did you go?

There are plenty of cool people here still.

I think what happens to a lot of people is that they begin to grow up and suddenly they don't fit in with the 18-21 year olds as well as they used to. They claim the Shroomery has changed, but in reality they are the ones that have changed.

There have always been cool people and ignorant people and I would say the proportions haven't changed much. I have been here six years now.

People have a tendency to remember the memorable things about the past and forget the forgettable things. Sounds obvious, but it creates the illusion that things have gotten worse.

If you don't like it here anymore, it's time to go.

I consider myself 'normal' but I do have a childish like attitude and might say things that offend others but all in the name of humor. I stick to posting in OTD because of my attitude but I love reading the other forums too.

I think the site is still in perfect condition with people willing to help others with questions to just about anything.

If you're talking about OTD might I suggest you avoid it because the rest of the site is filled with a wealth of information on many subjects and not just drugs.

I don't think the Shroomery has been here for a decade, and if it has, you need to get out more. Here nor hear. Not being rude.

Anyway, I thought the same thing, but in reality, I was just on the wrong forums and clicking on the wrong posts.

Generally speaking, if a thread has a good topic, it tends to stay that way.

You can also edit the forums you view... One of the ones I choose to avoid is the OTD, after they started to post necrophilia pictures. (don't look for it)

The site has just gotten bigger so there are more morons to contend with.  :shrug:  There are still cool people here.  And most of the people who bother to attend gatherings are alright. :thumbup:

I agree. There were some posters on here that were very nice and interesting people. Kaniz and Chinacat come to my mind.

Maybe it has to do with the shroomery being small at first and only gaining the attention of people who in it for the right reasons.

Thanks to google, every 12 year old on the planet posts here.
