criminal background checks

Hey everyone. So I've been trying to lease out a house now with 4 other friends of mine and we just got all of us on board. We're meeting up with the owner to sign up for the lease tomorrow but there's one problem. When I was 13 [I'm 20 now] - I was convicted of a class C felony, and sentenced to probation. I never had a problem securing a job because of this until recently I was turned down a job in total surprise [I assumed all felonies/misdemeanors that happen before you're 18 are dropped]. I'm sad that something stupid I did at 13 is going to haunt my adult life now. I'm worried that I'll be denied housing because of a totally unrelated crime. I'm a good person, and my past life has nothing to do with who I am now - why can't people see past this? Is there any hope for me to rent a place or will I constantly have to live under the radar?

long story short - possession. eh, i guess i found a website explaining quite a bit of relevant info. the laws for juveniles and adult felonies are so damn fuzzy it's hard to get real information aside from the rcw for my state - which is written in lawyer tongues so common folk can't decipher it

Get it expunged man. I'm pretty sure you can get anything expunged from your record when you are a juvenile or get the record sealed.
I'm not positive about felonies, but I know that's the case with misdemeanors. Check it out I'm pretty sure you should be able to get it off the record.

thanks man I was hoping I could. I'll call up a lawyer and see what I can do, it just sucks I'll be applying for the lease tomorrow and won't be able to get it off before then. I hate society - if you've committed a crime you MUST be a bad person and can't pay rent or be responsible.
As Hunter Thompson put it - "in a society where everyone's guilty, the only crime is getting caught"
