Something im working on in the studio

This is a track that im working on at the moment with a friend of mine, my friend wrote this on accoustic and we have so far put some bass, drums and lead acoustic.

Its just a rough mix, the lead acoustic is hard to hear, because when i recorded it into the computer it was coming in mono and i had 2 acoustics pan slightly left and right. Stupid me, will have to mix it down again for mono or get some cd-r and record a proper mix down.

Sounding good so far, we got almost a whole albums worth of songs we are doing.

All the videos have rough mixes synced to the video, its not sound recorded from the phone, very simple to do, just record the track while my phone was recorded, imported video and audio into windows movie make, and shift the audio about till it matches.

I really like the riff, the song has good energy.. but it seems like the whole time, after each measure or whatever I'm thinking "Where the fuck are the vox!?"

Really cool so far as a background track; kinda reminds me of the Beatles' Anthologies stuff, where you get to hear the songs in unfinished states. This could evolve into something good.

Something bassy clips during the "heavy" parts; I can't tell if it is the drums or the bass guitar due to the muddiness of the recording. The guitar sounds really off before the drums come in. Really off beat. And again at about 2:00. Maybe some bad overdubs, or the quiet "solo acoustic" track being off beat.

The 3rd video features a pretty good song. Is that an original? The drums are well tuned and played.

The 3rd one was something that i done when i was bored in the studio, its very similar to pennywise, it may ormay not be original, jsut threw it together in an hour.

The mp3 is just a rought mix, the lead acoustic isnt really in the mix as i forgot that the line into my computer is left only, and i have the 2 accoustics panned, the bassy distortion is either down to a bad cable going to the computer, or its just a really crap sound card, when i get this done properly it will be recording into our Audio CD recorder which gives great results.

There are a few minor timing errors in this, they were all recorded without a click track, very first intruments to be recorded were an acoustic guitar, so the time can stretch sometimes.

Oh the biggining part is actually a previous recording attempt into the computer playing ontop, i forgot to delete the first part, audacity when you record from the beginning again starts a new track and keeps the previous, i forgot to delete that so when i mixed it to mp3 theres another out of time track there.

It still needs a bit of work, we are going to be adding vocals soon (i warn u they may be a little bad) ill need to compress the drums over a subgroup to even it out a bit and possibly the acoustics and i bit of real time mixing on recording to cd, you pushing things up and down, adjusting fx and eq's.

Its all a bit of fun and in no way meant to be a highly polished end project.

Thanxs about saying my drums are well tuned, its a pearl forum kit (basically almost an export) that i bought for £400 10 years ago, with the right skins and tuning theres no reason to have crapy sounding drums. And thats with really old skins on my kit.

Not sure how it sounds on other peoples speakers, in the studio it sounds pretty good, though the recording doesnt have the mastering processing applied to it.

On my computer speakers the guitars are nice n crips, but the kik drum could use a little more definition along with the toms, and the bass needs some compression and i bit of mid, plus the lead acoustic needs brought way forward in the mix, as it really sets the track of, specially with a realy spacious reverb.

Im goint to rework this in the next few days and update.
