While never having used Amanitas before, if they are the right kind (Amanita Muscaria) which MJ's beautiful pic is of, then yes in large enough quantities they ae poisonous. If taken in right amounts, they induce a strange high, with some nausea, a dream like state I hear, not like a Psilocybin trip at all, but still a unique and many say enjoyable experience, plus they are legal so you don't have to worry about getting caught with them, but they are NO substitute for some nice Psilocybes or some other nice mushroom.
