radio head has never made a song i can distinguish from any other one they have made. i dont really care to check out the new album

i haven't even listened to it yet. don't get discouraged on the first listen though. quite often albums need a couple of plays to truly reveal their beauty.

I'm five songs into it and it's not bad at all in my opinion. Of course, I also totally forgot I'd ordered it a week ago, 'til I saw the email containing the download link last night.. so I certainly wasn't overhyped on it. Not to mention, I don't think any Radiohead music has ever hit me full force all at once - it kind of grows on me over time. And as In Rainbows does sport some groovy smooth beats, I have a feeling I'll find a favorite or two on this album before too long. Included in this post is a sample of track 4, Weird Fishes/Arpeggi.

I expected it to be about as good as the last one, but I already like it much better than HttT. And like Geo, Radiohead songs tend to grow on me, rather than blow me away right off the bat.

Track no. 7 is my current favorite.

Not bad at all, but...unfulfilling

The album has a pretty boring opening, rises in the middle, and then starts to recede again

I'll formulate my thoughts more later, I suck at music reviews

Track 7, Reckoner, I would agree is pretty darn solid.  Definitely has a psychedelic edge to it, adventerous, beginning with a strong beat to inspire thirst, giving way into the melodic (or "fluttery" :wink: ) singing style that is characteristic of Radiohead, melting away into a river of light liquid vocals and flowering back into its hard line beat, it truly is a journey of a musical act.  It will be the last track I include in this thread... and for anyone interested - you can go download the album directly from Radiohead's website for as little as 45 cents, or as much as you'd like to donate to their project.

it's not terrible, but it's not good enough for me to give them money for it

definitely better than hail to the thief (except for the song that sounds so much like Wolf at the Door)

but I'm definitely interested to see what songs they release on the 'bonus' cd, especially since they only had 10 songs on this album

My favrite track next to Weird Fish/Arpeggi

It has a haunted feel to it, nice shakers as well

i think theyve played everything but "mk1 and "mk2" ... try youtube or get a bootleg from their last tour ...

i like "4 minute warning" a lot

i was unimpressed and slightly disappointed.

i'm more on the amnesiac/kid a bandwagon.
this album did not bring the weird.

I loved this album from the first listen.  It actually makes me emotional at times, and that takes a lot.

To each their own.

I'm a huge fan and therefore biased, but I've been waiting for this album to come out for three years.  I can't wait to see them when they start touring next year.

I wonder what substance I will be on.  :reachforthelasers: or  :tripping:?  Or both?  :imslow:

Yeah, this album was a lot more emotional in an interesting way. Hail to the Thief was solid, but it was a bit too angsty and political. In Rainbows is amazing. Maybe it's because I had a head full of acid when I first really listened to it, but it's got a lot more depth and soul to it than some of their other stuff. The last track, Videotape, especially resonates.

Can't wait for the 2nd cd to arrive...
