What determines your hometown?

What determines your hometown? Is your hometown the place that you grew up or is it the place that you are currently residing at? The latter makes more sense to me since your "hometown" should be the place that your "home" is currently located in. Which is it?

So what if you grew up all over the place? Say, you moved more times than your age before you were ten? How do you determine your home town in that case? Would you have a hometown, or a home region?

Couldnt relate to that cause it never happened to me. I would say your hometown in that situation is where you are most happy :thumbup:.

I consider it the town I grew up in. My hometown is a shithole full of violent meth smoking dickfaces but its still my hometown even thought I havent been there in over 10 yrs. If someone asks me where im from I state where I currently reside. If someone asks me what my hometown is I begrudgingly say Im from methville (where I grew up).

Hometown to me is the place you spent the most time in as a kid.  If someone asks for my current hometown, and they're out of the area I just say, "Philly".  I'm not really in Philly but its the closest major city in the area.  I think that's how it works... :shrug:
