How do you put an MP3 or WAV in a Flash video?

I wanna make a Flash video and put a WAV or MP3 in it.

well typically you would first mux the audio and video together, then convert that into a flash video.

is this wav/mp3 supposed to be synchronized with the video? If not, you could just stream / play the audio separately.

I want to simply insert an MP3/WAV into an FLV — no converting (won't the conversion to FLV compress the audio?)

it doesnt work like that.

you can convert an mp3 to an flv, or a wav to an flv, or a video with audio to an flv.

but you cant "insert" files into a pre-existing FLV file, at least not any way I know of.

If it's compression you are worried about, MP3 is already a compressed format - and using a .WAV file would defeat the purpose of using a compressed codec such as FLV in the first place.

It would be more helpful to describe what you are trying to accomplish.

well in that case, you can just convert audio into FLV if you want, but flash will also stream MP3 without needing to convert anything.

I tried to install that, but all I got was a bunch of files I didn't know what to do with.

Is there an SWF out there that'll let me stream a hosted MP3? Is that what that is?

yup, heh you may want to just try using that code posted above, and replace with your mp3 file location.

Yeah, the MP3 URL I have highlighted in that screenshot is where the FLV URL would normally be — that code is for a Flash video site; I replaced the FLV URL with an MP3 URL to see if one could insert an MP3 the same way one can insert an FLV — didn't work.
