what's the best way to turn home video to dvd?

I wanna convert some home video on vhs-c to dvd format using my home computer. How would I best do this?

does your pc have connections on the back, like ATI, all in worder card,
vcr/ tv in, I,ve also heard of people using a new style camcorder
that has inputs, to hook the vcr up to and recording to digital.

if you dont have one already, you'll need a video capture card. Use a RCA equipped VCR and hook it up. You may have to use an adaptor for RCA to S-video. Pretty easy from there.. Use movie maker to compress to format after capture.

I'm going to get a tv-in that plugs into USB.

My main question was what software to use to make .vob files and such.
