phish
    #7259779 -

so i was chilling up with my vaporizer and listening to some phish

phish is sweet, to me there are such a unique band, almost like no one else out there like them.

phish to me represents mastering someones individual craft.

but im also wondering how four people could work so well together, that is what amazes me the most about phish.

their sound is so equally dependent on each person

it sucks i never got to see phish

:frown:

any of you guys like phish? there is like this bond between people that like phish, because phish is such phish.

Phish is good stuff, not my absolute favorite but I definatly enjoy it. I only wish I coulda seen em live before they broke up. Trey puts on a good show but I don't really like the crowd he brings in.

You'll get sick of it eventually. Phish was great in their prime, like the late 90s. I have a lot of bootlegs from that era, but I never saw them until like 2002 and it was weak sauce. They did nice rendition of David Bowie and Bug, but otherwise it was mediocre.

Trey pisses me off. He never let anyone else shine for very long at all, it was all about him and you can really tell in a lot of their live shows.

That shit gets old fast to me now, most jam bands do.. it's like seeing the same plots on different sitcoms. There are only so many original sounding jams out there..

The masters of progressive jam. I love it when the Weather Channel does their "local on the 8's" to "You Enjoy Myself". Junta's the best.

Their live show on a couple doses was mindblowing. The tailgate scene was almost as fun as the show too. somehow my sober friend got us to the front row from lawn seats too...what a night.

i don't like jam band music, but a couple hits at one of thier shows blew my mind, i was convinced they were the greatest artistic acheivement ever
. i have since seen umphrees, moe, the biscuts and someothers while similarly intoxicated and felt nothing from the music...

edit: at one point they took a break and it looked like all these shadow people were on stage. for some reason i believed they were dead people and that there was some sort of respectful invokecation of them going on.
also i got the impression that this was a normal thing that happened alot at thier shows.

wtf? anyone ever see anything similar?

I wish I could have seen phish, when they were around I was in a weird punk rock phase of my life, and thought that phish and everything surrounding it was stupid.

i agree with you, something about the vibes i received from their live show on a couple doses was beyond description. I can't sit down and listen to phish or listen to it driving....but being there, wow.

phish is great man, it took me sooo long to get into them though. my friend gave me a bunch of live shit back when i was like 13 and i couldnt stand the stuff; i remember saying something like "people actually listen to this shit??" But i came around eventually and WOW. Yea idk man if jams are your thing phish in their prime is where its at, they were an amazing force at work. As for phish while high/tripping, its fucking primo, nuff' said haha. My fav. live jams have gotta be possum, you enjoy myself, and moma dance man its sooo funky you gotta dig it.

good stuff guys

i totally agree that trey started taking the stoplight but karma got back with him for his ways, his solo stuff was nowhere near the caliber that phish reached.

I don't over listen to phish don't get me wrong, In their prime though they were such a happy, glorious band. Their influence was huge on people. Life changing for some.

moma dance is actually my favorite phish sick
your right its the funkiest song, the space the leave is just perfect. That reaction is why I love phish.

not to say other bands aren't great in their own regards,
phish just mastered what PHISH thought it should sound like, during the middle of their career. 4 Different people, different universes, reached that equal point. Then after to many drugs I guess, shit just went downhill. Trey kinda left them in the dust it seems like. Let a lot of people down, but im sure he either knows or will realize that.

Anyone dig any Gov't Mule? I was on 3 hits for their late-night show at Bonnaroo, it blew my mind!

They've got a few good songs. I was at the Galactic/rappers show when Mule was playing that night.
