Pat Tillman was fragged
    #7248782 -

Pat Tillman's death in Afghanistan will always fascinate Americans, but probably most clearly for a reason they won't understand because accepting it, like acknowledging that we're going to die, pops the balloon of simplistic pleasantries we use to disguise life itself. For all the reams of rhetoric and frenetic reporting about his demise, there is one word that will pop that balloon and the media is afraid to use it.

Fragging.

Those who write are aware of a need to watch for any term that becomes repeated too much, as if insistently by a child in denial. Peacekeepers. Humanitarian mission. Terrorism. And now, "friendly fire." Pat Tillman's death was originally in combat, but now (sleight of hand), we're told it was "friendly fire."

Story Continues: Sacrifice

I'm sad that people aren't bold enough to see this. He wanted to fight, his platoon wanted to lag, and so they killed him in the same way they killed American officers in Vietnam: the listless mass turns its weapons on those few who see meaning in the fight (even if I don't agree with that decision, at least they wanted to get something done in a world of dodgers, slackers, losers, burnouts, fence-sitters, bean-counters, liars, lagabouts, gold brickers, donut engulfers, couch potatoes, whiners, parasites and hipsters).

I've never heard the term fragged used in that sense. So they are sure that he was killed on purpose? Didn't just pop out of somewhere, look back towards his comrades and take a burst (3rnds) to the forehead?

Off topic, but Anus.com is wrong.

Is there some proof that the friendly fire was not an accident?

No there's not. The only evidence suggesting such is the belief that Tillman was shot at relativly close range,
"The doctors - whose names were blacked out - said that the bullet holes were so close together that it appeared the Army Ranger was cut down by an M-16 fired from a mere 10 yards or so away."

and the thought that others might have been mad at him:
"
-- In his last words moments before he was killed, Tillman snapped at a panicky comrade under fire to shut up and stop "sniveling.""

Also his family is saying he was completely disillusioned to the war and that when he came back he was going to speak out on it and the fact that one of the main tasks of soldiers over there are baby-sitting opium fields.

And of course the cover up never helps inspire credibility. "seriously, this is really what happened... forget what we said before- we were lying then"

I won't even click on the prisonplanet nonsense for obvious reasons, and the Forbes link says nothing of the kind.

Pat Tillman wasn't a senior officer, so no one is going to frag him for the reasons you hallucinated. I saw a recreation of the friendly fire incident on TV a couple months ago. It clearly showed that it was an accident. It was better quality than some of the paranoid videos posted here so it must be true.

This quote makes it sound like he was killed in a combat situation, i.e. how could he snap at a comrade "under fire" unless they were, you know, under fire. Hence he died in combat, but by friendly fire.

Unfortunately accidents do happen, it's not impossible for a new soldier who has never been tested in combat to miss his target.

I really don't seem any reason to believe that he was purposefully killed.

I'll also note that the supposed "motivation" of the killing keeps changing. At first it was suggested in this thread that his comrades killed him for being a "go-getter" when they wanted to slack, and then the anti-war motivation crops up. These motives are diametrically opposed, and so cannot possibly both be correct. This adds up to a lack of clear motive, coupled with a lack of clear evidence. I don't see any reason to believe he was purposefully killed.

I am interested in the Tillman case and have been following it for a while. Basically, there are two possibilities:

1. He was unintentionally killed in a freak and tragic accident by a fellow Army Ranger.

2. He was intentionally murdered by a fellow Army Ranger.

I presently have seen no evidence to support #2. I keep hearing over and over again about how he was well-liked and admired by his fellow soldiers.

the government could have easily paid someone hansomely to take him out.

i'm not saying it's the case, i'm just saying it's plausible.

Why would they do that? He was better PR alive. If you think that's plausible you need to keep your eye well fixed on everybody behind you because a live ledfut is worth far less than a live Pat Tillman. To the government, anyway. Your mom probably disagrees.

You know, by the laws of physics, it is possible that all of my atoms could suddenly appear as I am currently assembled on the surface of the sun and I could traverse it unscathed. Not likely though. Just because some gang of deranged conspiracy theorists can imagine something does not necessarily make it worthy of consideration or even attention of any kind. Other than by mental health officials looking to enforce a restraining order.
