I tried describing the kind of pipe I wanted to a guy at a head shop the other day. You're not allowed to use any sort of drug lingo so I couldn't straight up ask for a crack pipe. But he knew what I was getting at and assumed I was smoking teh crack rocks, and said coldly "I don't sell that kind of thing here." I wanted to be like...it's for the DMT!

When you go into the head shops in this city you can't even say "bong" too loudly or they will throw you out...it's a "water-pipe" intended "for tobacco use only." Any discussion of illegal drugs and the guys running the shop will promptly kick you out.

I remember in Hawaii I saw this nice bong that looked like an octopus or something and I said "Cool octopus bong!" and the guy just ignored me. I thought what an asshole! I didn't realize what was up until I got back here and read a thread that mentioned you can't say bong or anything in US stores. I think he even said "Get out." but I thought he meant it in a different sense like, "No way!"

Yeah, my local headshop has a sign:

"If it rhymes with ROLL or GONG, don't say it."

They will boot you pronto... I always just say "piece" and point. :smile:

Ya here they even tell me how long it takes for the grinders they sell to start sticking. I bought some San Pedro and Kratom from the store and when I would come back in the guy would ask how my trip was and give me Protips. :rotfl:

hahahah i had  similer trouble when i firsted tryed to get a base pipe. i went in there and was all beating around the bush like "i need somthing for smoking things with indirec heat" and "i dont want the flame to actualy touch the smoking blend" then eventualy i just saw the small little freebase spoons and was like "one of those plese" the guy looked at me and was like "uh thats for...nevermind"

that pipe actualy sucked tho.
too small. i got a ridiculusly long freebase ppe now with bubbes in it and what not :grin:


ya that whole no lingo thing is pretty strict round here. depends on wh you knw tho. i know a few show owners and i talk openly about extraction teks and such with ight inthere store

I've only been to two in Toronto, but they were both OK. Not a huge selection in either place, but not bad either. Roach-O-Rama had the smaller collection, but a bonus was The Hotbox Cafe in the back - a place to chill with the local heads, or eat some food. It's one of those places where they let you bring in your own weed to smoke :wink:

The Friendly Stranger was just a head shop, so they had more selection. I still like my local head shop though...I think they have more selection (smaller store but it's PACKED) and they're definitely more "friendly" and approachable.

I've also heard that the Toronto Hemp Company is good too, but I haven't been there.

i got mine from a particualrly scuzzy head show on haight. it carrys everything. from whip its to crack bongs. from porn tapes to swords they have it all. there where at leased 5 diffrent styles of freebase bulbs. i got the longest one it has a hook neck too wich is good if you dont want to inhale molten dmt

indeed. or at leased some awful polyurithane somthin or other.

the weirdest part for me is like a week or so after i smoke it i can still taste it. not all the time, randomly. ill turn a corner then all of a sudden i catch a pungent wiff and my hair starts to stand on end, then just like that its gone. i dunno could just be my brain, indeed it must be :wink:
