I went to this headshop...

electrode and I drove an hour to Chicago to go to Adams Apple, well, we get there and strike up a conversation with the counter guy. It takes a few questions and a few minutes to before he would show us the water pipes. I think that's odd. So we pick out a piece for $120, while he is in the back wrapping it, his "janitor" starts making disturbing comments about my boots and socks, so I just walked away. I picked out another piece, a simple glass, for $70. At the register, I was charged tax, and received no discount :frown:

What kind of head shop doesn't throw in any freebies with a $200 purchase. I don't like going back to stores like that, but they have some bangin' pieces, and I want to spend a few more bills on some good glass, just not there, oh the dilemma
what should I do?

You can't always expect freebies.

Who knows though, become a regular customer and maybe he'll let you in on the deals and stuff.

The sticker price on my green star was 230$ but i didn't pay that much.I probably ended up paying half of what it actually cost me and i got free shit.

Next time ask how much they would sell it to you for...if they don't hook you up just walk out...

The prices range from 500$ to 5,000$

I wouldn't have payed more than 20 for that sparkly pipe, and I would talk to the guy next time you go in. Say "look man I spent 200 bucks in here not more than a couple of weeks ago. I would expect that you'd cut a valued customer like myself a deal on your merchandice. You're not the only head shop in chicago for christs sake, and you're not even the cheapest, I just happen to like your products."

adams applpe is a fucking bad head shop. they screwed over my friend. told him that they were going to buy some of his head pieces $500 dollar pieces that he blew custom, and they didnt buy it. shady deals

if you want to get good glass downtown in chiacgo i know a few good places whos namees i cant remember, but there is head evnture in joliet

Joliet is even closer to where we live. I didn't like the guys at Adams Apple. They were fuckin' wierdos. That place is called "Head Venture"? Or is it really 'evnture', whatever that means.

I bought a bong once, and they tossed me a free T-Shirt.

Great I thought, now I can wear a shirt that advertises my patronage to a store called the "Out of Control Smoke Shop"

Damn that sucks. I dropped 200 on stuff about a ear ago and the guy didn't give me a discount. Next time I came in the owner was there and I spent about 200 more. The owner commented on me spending that much and the guy behind the counter said hell yeah he's a good customer he spent 200 in here last time. The owner threw in a couple of cool books and 2 tee-shirts !!!

i would definitely try a different headshop, i know chicago isn't lacking in that area. you'll find one with nice people running it..you can't always expect a discount, but you should expect a pleasant experience without some shady janitor hitting on you. if you don't know of any headshops, i know some glassblowers in the area who could hook you up, they are very cool people.

but yeah its called head venture, and its actualy right outtside of joliet in one of the surronding cities. you can find it if you search online.

the biggest purchase ive ever made at a headshop was $75, and i didn't get any freebies but then after i bought it i asked the guy for some filters and he just gave them to me. SO i saved a little bit, but i had to ask.

that's what you have to do to get that discount man. ask. maybe they didn't u give ne thing cuz it involves them losing a little money, but they would if u ask cuz they know it's the right thing to do.
