Hurricanes do spawn tornadoes frequently. I remember a hurricane that hit Alabama last year. The bands came into Georgia and spawned something like 31 tornadoes in like 12 different counties that caused millions in damages.

Unbelievable storm

These pictures were taken by a man in Magee, MS where the eye of the storm passed thru - what an experience.

Magee is 150 miles North of Waveland, Mississippi where the Hurricane made land fall.

Worth passing on!!!

The dance with Katrina, part of her beauty as she left destruction on her exit. They are remarkably dramatic.

The last image also came in the email to me form my sister who received the image3s and quotes form her friend. I just posted them as she related them to me.

They could be on the moon for all I care, but they are awesome.

This was the quote from the giant wave in the last image.
It came in the email my sister sent to me which apparently her friend got from several others.

Quote:
The following picture was taken from the third story balcony of Saint Stanislaus College located next door to Our Lady of the Gulf church in Bay Saint Louis, Mississippi on the morning of August 29th, 2005. This is believed to be the initial tidal wave from Hurricane Katrina. The tidal wave was approximately 35 to 40 feet high. When it slammed into the beach front communities of Bay Saint Louis and Waveland Mississippi to completely destroy 99% of every structure along the beach for 9 miles and over ? of a mile inland. The destruction only started there. The flooding that continued inland destroyed the contents of all but 35 homes in these two communities of approximately 14,000 people.

mj.

Still they are awesome images.

Very disappointing that a long time poster with some 13,000 posts would just copy and paste the generic message

I just googled Magee, Mississippi and found some of the above photos as Hurricane Katrina. Look it up. There are pages of these images from Magee. Mississippi with the same text as sent to me by my sister. Nothing generic about it. She did not lie about what she sent to me. And her dated email is posted at the end of this message. And do not make slanderous staements about my posting 13,000 posts and then saying I copied it form somewhere ont he internet which I did not.

There are dozens of pages of these photos over Magee, Mississippi

http://www.google.com/search?q=magee%2C+Mississippi+hurricane+Katrina&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a

one site from that page:

http://www.liveleak.com/browse?tag=Hurricane%20Katrina

Another. This one shows all of the photos sent to me by my sister from her friend. They are all of Hurricane Katrina as posted in the first URL above from Magee, Mississippi. To say I made a false post is shit up your nose.

As for the image with the fifty foot waves. Google.com for that image can be found along with others at this URL

http://www.orthodoxytoday.org/blog/2007/05/31/the-beauty-of-katrina/

All of those above images are from hurricane Katrina. So piss on all of you who said they were not of Katrina.

If this pissing on me continues when I post images to share with others continues than I will definitely not post here in the pub again.

You need to relax a bit MJ. Just because you were sent some fradulent info in an e-mail and believed it is no big deal. Its happened to most of us at one time or the other. But when someone here posts proof of the real origin of the pics you shouldn't get so upset, and you shouldn't continue to deny it so much.

I also was one who recognized right away that those were not Katrina pics. Although a hurricane can spawn tornadoes, a hurricane and a supercell thunderstorm (a tornado-spawning storm on the plains) are two very different things. Up above Idiot posted the link to the photographer who took those pics. I searched for a few minutes and found that at least 2 of the images above are from a storm in Nebraska on May 28, 2004. That storm's photos are here. And I'm sure that with a little effort you could find the rest of the pics on his site.

All that said, they are some fantastic photos no matter where they came from!

MJ, did you look at the second result on Google? It's this page: http://www.snopes.com/photos/natural/storm.asp

That page debunks the myth that these are pictures from Katrina.

We're not pissing on you man, we're just trying to provide the real facts about these pics and not some BS that is circulated via email. Those pictures are of weather systems and phenomenon that do not occur during a hurricane. Sure, they're impressive pictures but they are NOT pictures of ANY hurricane. Do a google image search for mesocyclone. These pictures are clearly pictures of a mesocyclone, not a hurricane.

Yeaah. Gumby, Masterxenn and Idiot,

I went to the Scopes site and found out that Mick Hollingshead too the photographs of those clouds.

Why hundreds of sites list them as Katrina Is something I would wonder wi hy so h many people reposted the same story.

Here iS the photgraphers real site. HE had nothing to do with Scopes except Scopes notes him (mike) as the photographer.

http://photowebs.blogspot.com/2006/06/amazing-storm-pictures-taken-by-storm.html

and Mike Hollingshead's website of storm chasing.

Quote:
There are an article on Snopes.com about those pictures. It mentioned all pictures are real (but rumor said it's Hurricane Katrina).
All pictures taken by Mike Hollingshead (extremeinstability.com)

Sorry if it was misrepresented but I, like many here, also post things others send us. IF they distort on purpose well that s their fault. My sister found the photos and went them to me from her friend, who apparently had dozens of links linking them to Katrina.
