I read somewhere that someguys (funguys) use a heating pad under the setup to heat things up a bit. As for the other questions. I also read that if you got green shit cut it out with a sterile spoon fast!

DIG GREEN SHIT OUT NOW!

I had some in my case, dosed it with straight H202 (store brand)and baking soda and it looked like it went away, but only went underground. Took over about 4" diamter chunk of case out to get rid of it.

RE Misting/watering:
I'm having same questions about Misting. Shroom Wizards tek says

quote:

Step 3
Continue watering the surface once or twice daily as needed. It will not take very long to be able to know when your trays need watering, when the surface is dry, it needs more water. They seem to need more water during the cold months because of the dry air in your home produced by your heater. If you have to miss a day of watering your trays for some reason, you can just lie the lid back on top of the tray

Which leads me to beleive misting once a day is important

Later He reminds us

quote:

Step 5
This is not a step, just a reminder to keep spraying, and keep harvesting, until the tray no longer is producing shrooms

But then I read elsewhere to not to mist pinning cases, to add water in the sides, or with syringe...

My case is just sitting out in the open, down here in Humid FL. But I notice couple of new shrooms, the "heads" are starting to split. Hell, should I put em in a terrarium?

So Confused.....

Thanks for the info!

But now things are kind of different. I heard that you weren't supposed to directly spray casings (I think...) so I put a layer of perlite over my cakes in the case. So I'm going to spray the perlite, since it's good at holding in moisture. I'll let you all know how it turns out. I'm so excited!

I'm heating it with a light bulb (good or bad idea?) so now the temp stays at about 70 degrees instead of 55. Much better! And hopefully, the humidity will go up too. It's only at 60%.
