Mold on dried cubes

I have a question to ask. I found green mold growing on my dried cubes, and they were not crisp. I had the silica beads also in the ziplock and did not seem to help. Can I put the cubes in hot water to make tea, or should I throw them away. Will the steeping water kill the mold and any toxins? I have not run into this before. Thanks!!!

best advice is to chuck them, but it's your health and your call. if the mold is not bad and you keep them, re-dry them and make sure they stay that way. it can be hard keeping mushrooms dry. when i was in Wa in the fall and winter of 05 i had a hell of a time keeping my semies dry, as you can probably immagine. sometimes it was hard to keep a cigarette burning; the air was so damp.

some mold toxins will supposedly drgrade just from drying out and others will break down from heat exposure but it is not safe to assume that either proccessing will make your mushrooms safe to eat.

don't put them in there untill they are completely dry and i would check on them periodicaly, like after periods of high humidity. someone i know lost about a dry Oz of cyans last year to mold.

Unfortunately there is about 2 1/2 oz with a small amount of mold. I originally dried them with a dehydrator on low @ 95 deg and thought they were completely dry, but somehow moisture got in. I did this about 3 weeks ago

well, if you decide to keep them that's one thing, but i wouldn't go offering them to anybody else, with unknown sensitivities and allergies.

The water might kill the mold, but it will not dispose of the toxins. Toss those shrooms.
