Christopher Hobbs' book is full of references. It's lended out right now and I can't recall the exactly what it is called, but it has "medicinal mushrooms" in the title.
Highly recommended.

Another interesting anti cancer mushroom is coriolis versicolor.

My relative had cancer and he drinks a tea from it since operation and chemotherapy.

I think the title is Medicinal Mushrooms. And it is a very well done book, very well referenced.

Ladle -
I'm just cruisin' some forums that I usually don't visit, and saw your post. As a cancer survivor, I'll simply say that if your acquaintance is "dying" of cancer, the anticancer substances like lentinen (good for certain sarcomas) are not going to reverse the dying process. They also seem to be selective (lymphomas, for example, are so deadly, they are not going to be touched, although it doesn't hurt to try). As a psychotherapist, it would be unethical to suggest an illegal usage of a substance like psilocybin to facilitate the acceptance of the process of dying, so I can't make that suggestion. There is, of course a large body of literature that supports this treatment, and psilocybin apparently enhances the immune system. Peace.

I read quite a bit, remember useful data, but frequently cannot recall the sourse. I have a feeling it was in one of McKenna's books, in connection with the enhancement of night vision (pupillary dilation) and the edge that certain hunter-gatherers developed over non-mushroom using tribes. Or, it may have been from "The Mushroom Cultivator,' a quarterly publication from the Florida Mycological Research Center in Pensacola. From that source there was some info about reseaech that the government alledgedly halted because mushroom extractions were keeping certain insects in a perpetually adolescent state of development. A long haul from insect longevity to human longevity - which of course would devastate our social security system, etc. If I discover the exaxt source of the immune-enhancing info I'll send it to you. One claim was that pockets of people in Central America that use psilocybin mushrooms live to 120 and 130, routinely. Of course, even if true, they live in a different world altogether with lots of varaiables.

>I did read somewhere that Dr. Weil said that the psilocybin mushroom was the cure all of all of his ills. Thanks for all the suggestions everyone. It is appreciated.

Perhaps Dr. Weil, like myself, was a believer in the theory that the mind, rather than other things like "carcinogens", plays a major role in ailments like cancer, and many of these can be cured by the mind. Perhaps psilocybin can help to cure ailments of these sorts, by changing the way one thinks, and causing the immune system to act differently.

>>He has a neighbor that has the same kind of cancer, and was given the same type of lifespan estimate, but she has survived 4 years past her supposed deadline

Hi,
Im just curious as to the fact that there may be some kind of connection between your family friend and his neighbor having the same kind of cancer. I know Im kinda straying off topic but maybe something where they live is causing this (ie. high voltage power lines, contaminated water etc etc etc,) I do a lot of research studies on subjects such as this and if you don't mind me asking could I get a general geological location of where this is occuring?
