Images copy script crashes Opera
    #6786808 -

Whenever I upload an image to the server and click on the url to copy and paste in some thread Opera slows down a lot, it takes a few minutes for it to gain stability again.

This is with 9.20 in KDE 3.2.

It there any way to solve this? Is this caused by the scrip itself or my browser? If it's just the browser I could at least block the script it I knew which one it is.

Well before rolling it out I tested in Opera 9.10 and it worked fine, great, superdoubleplusbig. I just tested it again and it's stable as stable can be. So if you don't have 9.10 I'd advise upgrading. Otherwise, you can block http://www.shroomery.org/forums/includes/clipboard.js and it should resolve the problem.

I just upgraded my computer, changed OS to kubuntu, upgraded opera to9.21 and this still happens.

Is there any specific reason it should happen in linux and not windows?

Leave Ythan alone, the growery will never get done if he keeps having to do things for the shroomery.

This whole forum should be locked for a week.

Well I can reproduce the problem, but I'm not sure how to fix it. We use a tiny bit of Flash to gain access to the clipboard, but the applet (_clipboard.swf) apparently doesn't play nice with Opera under Linux. The Flash is open source and a lot of other sites use it (like Photobucket) and they all have that same problem. However, it works okay under Firefox. So it looks to me like the problem isn't Linux, Flash, or that particular applet, but Opera itself. Really I'm just guessing, but maybe ask them to look into it?

I see, yeah I knew that flash works like shit in linux's opera, it's a big problem with sites like youtube too, but I didn't know the script used flash.

I guess there's no remedy until a new version of opera comes around, the people at opera have great ideas but they sure take their time to fix a really important bug.

Thanks!
