Anyone fly kites?

And I'm not talking about the silly paper kites you had as a kid! I'm talking about the modern, extreme kites available today. 2 and 4-string stunt kites and parafoils.

My friend had a 2-string stunt kite and I use to fly it with him about 15 years ago. Lately I've had the itch to get a kite myself. Then I saw some guys kite-surfing on a stormy day here where I live and that got me thinking about buying a foil rather then a stunt kite. After doing some research and talking to the guy that runs a local kite shop I decided to go with a foil.

So today I ordered the Prism Stylus P.3. I got it in the 'coral' color combination (I think the reds/oranges/yellows will look nice against the blue sky). The local kite guy I have been talking to about it says he really likes his. A fun and responsive kite that provides quite a bit of pull as the wind picks up. He says when it gets over 15 mph it'll drag you up and down the beach and give you a hell of a workout while having some good fun. And when I feel like taking the leap to a 4-string configuration this kite has the ability to be changed over.

So does anyone else fly kites? I think this will be one hobby I'm gonna have a blast with!!

I like to fly kites! I don't have any of the fancy ones, but I've used them before. They are pretty fun. I kinda like the simple old school type ones too. they are a little more relaxing, if you just wanna kick back and fly a kite.

These kites definately ain't your kids kites! Check out what a team of pros can do with 4-string stunt kites. Their routine doesn't start til about 2 1/2 minutes into the video, but if you've never seen these kites in action then I can gaurantee you'll be amazed!

last time i flew a kite was during a hurricane and it went bye bye. other than that random fun, no i dont

Wheeee! This is money well spent. Lots of fun on a Sunday afternoon.





Today was the first time I flew the foil (first two pics). Its definately trickier to launch then the stunt kite (last pic) but it has a respectable amount of power even in a light wind. And the stunt kite is just plain fun!!
