GoDaddy.com has cheap names and a very good control panel but they try to sell you a bunch of crap you don't need. Just ignore it...

1and1 is also good, but I use Godaddy for all my .com names and Tierra.net for my .infos 'cause they're only 88 cents each there.

I've always used GoDaddy.. over the years though they've added a lot of junk, like the other person said, just ignore it.. you don't need it. If you are hosting the site on your own machine I suggest using ZoneEdit.com for your DNS hosting. Its free for up to 5 zones and its a lot easier than messing around with BIND and trying to configure your own name server.

I second Bluehost... assuming you need hosting and not just domain registration, they offer a great value for the money. To put things in perspective, they offer 999GB of transfer per month; the Shroomery uses less than 500. They also aren't plagued with the customer service problems which seem to affect 1&1 and GoDaddy. I know Anno uses them, and they're also a Shroomery affiliate.
