They are vermiculite flakes that were used as a casing during cultivation. They are inert and do not improve the trip. Presence of vermiculite generally indicates a relatively low volume and unsophisticated growing operation. Placebo Effect Shroom Potency Booster Tek: Go to your local garden center and buy a bag of vermiculite. Sprinkling on your shrooms for that extra kick. Improvement seems to be the best if the vermiculite is only allowed to stick to the lower ends of the stems.

I was in the bar one night talking to a FOF, and he said he loved the ones w/ the gold flakes, they blew him away. I laughed so fucking hard I almost fell off my bar stool.

Gold flakes indicate the presense of Goldshlager, a highly potent cinnamon schnapps. This is a highly secretive growing tec. I could tell you but I'd have to kill you.

Hey.Ya know, this might actually mean that the non-growers, people who just buy their shrooms, have noticed that homegrown (with the gold flakes) are more potent than picked, grown-by-nature shrooms. Interesting... splode

I gotta agree with Splode. I have had a lot of buddies tell me my home grown shrooms are much better than those found wild... And I am not a particularly expert grower, either! Let's face it, growing your shit on brown rice or rye or even compost in a controlled environment is going to produce better shrooms than those found in the cow field, unless you out picking the likes of Azurescens (which don't grow in cow fields anyway). Ryche- it's oh-so-encouraging to hear that you've heard of cubies from Indiana, as I have a friend who lives there and had heard rumors of a friend-of-a-friend coming down from MI and leaving with "a trashbag full" of cubies. He has disregarded the claim, though he's been on a hunt or two "just to check". Grinning and waiting for next spring, GT

By the way, I always painstakingly remove every last bit of both perlite and vermiculite from my shrooms before injestion because I thought it was likely that both could be bad for your health. Any opinions on that one? Because it sure would be nice to not have to do that anymore! GT

I just cut off the dirty part. You can always grow more and you can feed your "friends" the butts.

Butts, abhorts, and chunks of mycelium are hard to eat, but they really aren't waste products. Dehydrate 'em, wait till you have a couple grams, then grind 'em up and make tea.
