Foster Dog #3 - Rocky Is Here!! (Lots of BIG Pictures)
    #6846715 -

Today we went and picked up another foster dog - his name is Rocky.  Emma left on Thursday for her forever home (yay Emma!), and Irish is still with us, so this will bring the number back up to 2 again

I've been SO excited about getting Rocky - I fell in love with his picture as soon as I saw him, I think mostly because he looks SO much like our dog Molly.  The last week or so I've been laying the groundwork with my fiance to try to convince him that we should keep Rocky.  At first his answer was a firm "No."  Then it changed to "I don't think so" then "We have to see how he fits in".  That's when I knew I had a good chance at winning, because Lucy and Molly have never met a dog they didn't love.  I knew if Rocky was a nice dog and didn't eat our kitten, he might be able to stay.

So he came home with us today.  He might be the sweetest dog, ever, despite what someone has done to him.  He's incredibly skinny, and I don't think anyone has ever paid this dog a bit of attention.  He doesn't even know his own name.  The first thing he did when we brought him in the back yard to pee was make himself a bed out of leaves in the corner of the yard, which he was an expert at doing, so clearly he was used to sleeping outside.  His owners turned him in to a high kill shelter because "He could jump their 4 foot fence".  Apparently he got loose 1 too many times and the neighbors said if he got into their yard again, they would shoot him.  Nice neighbors eh?

My suspiscion is that he lived outside, and probably got bored, so of course he would try to escape.  I also discovered today while clipping his nails that he has a broken or dislocated back toe, that has been that way for quite some time now.  He's been walking on the wrong part of it because it's all twisted the wrong way :frown:  It doesn't seem to cause him any pain or discomfort, which is good.  He loves Lucy and Molly, loves people, and even loves out cat.  He's perfect!

Here are a bunch of pictures of him.  I think he's absolutely gorgeous.  He's 1, and he's a shepherd mixed with something - maybe a rottie or a pitbull, judging by the size/shape of his head, but that's just a guess.

PEACE

:mushroom2:zippoz:mushroom2:

"in times of widespread chaos and confusion, it has been the duty of more advanced human beings - artists, scientists, clowns, and philosophers - to create order. In such times as ours however, when there is too much order, too much m management, too much programming and control, it becomes the duty of superior men and women and women to fling their favorite monkey wrenches into the machinery. To relieve the repression of the human spirit, they must sow doubt and disruption"

"People do it every day, they talk to themselves ... they see themselves as they'd like to be, they don't have the courage you have, to just run with it."

It's good to see kind people taking in dogs. It breaks my heart to know ppl abuse animals. if I had the space Id take in a stray or two. So far I have been a "Kitty Depot" Takingin unwanted cats one at a time. to date I've taken in 4 cats, in the last years of their lives.
When the opportunity arises, i will adopt a dog. Good for you, you all look so happy!

That's really, really nice of you to do - older cats are so unlikely to get adopted at shelters, it's awesome that you give them another chance.

Today someone came to visit Irish at our home and fell in love with him!  They are coming on Friday to pick him up and take him home for good.  I am so happy for him!!

We are still considering whether to keep Rocky or find a great home for him....we want to do what's best for him.  We're going to give it a few days and let his personality really come out, and see whether he'd be best as an only dog, or if he really likes being around our pups, and decide from there.

We're going to have a max of 2 foster dogs at a time   Irish found a new home today and they're picking him up Friday, and Emma left a few days ago, so this weekend it will just be our 2 pups and Rocky here.  I figure if we have the space for them, and the financial resources to take care of them, why not
