Zombie movies should follow either of 2 scenarios, germ type (virus, disease, etc) OR supernatural type (voodoo, magic, etc.)

You've never seen Re-Animator have you?

i agree with you on that. and the scenario i mentioned would be of the germ type.

it doesn't make any sense for the germ to be introduced to the bloodstream, and then somehow the person instantly becomes zombified. the point of the germ explanation of zombies is that it is supposed to be realistic (at least as realistic as zombies can be).

it just makes more sense for the germ to cause a fatal infection and for a neurochemical reaction to take place after the brain stops sending neural signals. at least it makes more sense to me. it seems more "feasible" than merely getting a drop of blood in your eye and 20 seconds later turning into a complete zombie.

I agree with what you're saying but marinade on this for a minute:

Poison arrow frog - Two micrograms of its toxin (easily enough to fit on the head of pin) will kill a large mammal-or even a person.
(nothing about how fast)

Sydney funnel-web spider - Its fangs deliver a neurotoxin that causes great pain and can kill a person in 15 minutes. Its venom doesn't affect most mammals-just us!

So we're talking 2ug and 15 minutes..not bad for being produced...BY NATURE! dun dun dunn, I'm going to sleep

thanks, and here's something more for the people of the thread:

:smirk:

initial idea is kind of ripped off from cheech & chong, but there are "drugs" and near zombies involved so..

i enjoyed the remake of dawn of the dead, it's good old zombie killing entertainment. the resident evil flicks, on the other hand, have been lackluster in my opinion.

I'm very excited to see it, I have a hard time believing it will be as awesome as the 1st one but I certainly hope its at least half as good.

My little brother loves Zombie movies, So i'll prolly end up watching it.
It looks allot better than some movies coming out soon, like "Kicking it oldschool" but that's just me.

The first movie was really good. I've been really looking forward to this one, but I have a feeling I'll be disappointed.

totally legit, but i don't see how they help your point more than mine. i never said the dose of infection had to be large. that's the point. it's an infection. it spreads. BUT, the smaller the initial dose, the longer it takes to spread.

Also, 15 minutes is not 20 seconds. Not even remotely close. sure, 15 minutes is relatively short, but it's nowhere near instantaneous.

finally, both of those things you mentioned were neurotoxins, not germs/bacteria/microbes. they're not really the same thing at all.

lol, i know we're talking about zombies. but i was trying to fit the science into "science fiction". zombie apocalypse is one of my favorite non-sex related daydreams. that and growing weed.

hah I got ya. I haven't had zombies on the mind nearly as much as normal lately. the thing that pisses me off is that there are so many incredibly interesting and original possibilities for zombie apocalypse films but everybody just keep putting out more or less the same shit.

Well it is a Rage virus, probably similar to rabies in a sense. After a short period of time dimensia and madness occur, inducing violent rage in the infected I guess?. Main difference being that they are not yet dead and therefor still have all the muscular and agility capabilities as a normal person. So it adds the suspense of having a mob of bloodthirsty psychopaths chasing you. And Yet! Ive personally come to the conlcusion that they dont eat theire victims out of the fact that its not their motivation for attacking someone. My 2 cents

watch Weekend at Bernie's 2

I'm not a big fan of supernatural zombies
Unless for no apparent reason whatsoever they just start coming out of the ground, as in the apocalypse or something when the dead rise.

It is probably the most original zombie flick I've seen so far.

Except that it's a rip off of Day of the Triffids, and Day of the Dead oh and pretty much every single zombie movie ever made!

Well I haven't seen Day of the Triffids and I disagree with the rest of your comment so my statement holds true.

How do you figure it was a rip off of Day of the Dead and all other zombie movies..because it had zombies?

The formula was quite different, and again, it had immersing subtleties that most zombie movies lack.

So the fact that during the last section of the film they're up against a dwindled military group being run by a psychotic nutter just like the heroes in Day of the Dead were rings no bells of comparison to you then?

And even in the introduction of the script book Alex Garland admitts the references/ripping off!
