28 weeks later.....your thoughts?

ehhh I think it will just damped what was a great movie
however, the trailer doesn't look half bad, but no revolutionary idea/plot

I fall for any movie dealing with the concept of the end of civilization typa thing so ill go see it

i loved 28 days later, probably my favorite zombie flick and this one doesn't seem too bad but i doubt it will be better than the first. the music is sounding good though, and the first one's music was one of my favorite things about it.

Looks nowhere near as good as the original, but I am most deffinately going to see it. 28 Days Later was a cinematic masterpiece.

i think they are going to try too hard, therefore not making it as good at the original, but still making it pretty sweet.

I'll reserve my opinions until I actually see and just say for now that something about it looks off, yet somethin about it looks fucking sick.

When I saw the first one I fucking hated it, until I watched it again and went ape shit for it. It is probably the most original zombie flick I've seen so far. Maybe that's why I had to see it again. It had a much more interesting psychological less thriller atmosphere to it. Small things like when Jim says "Thanks, dad." while he's sleeping on painkillers when Frank covers him with a blanket. Jesus I hope they don't go and fuck it up.

Resident Evil & Dawn of the Dead, meh..they were definately good but you got that thriller, action, video game cheapness in there and it ruins it. I want depressing as shit, end of the world, psychological lamentation, manipulation, this could really happen sort of stuff.

wow, you guys really dug 28 days later that much? i thought it was alright. not phenomenal, but worth watching. the black chick was so fucking hot. i'd watch it again, but like i said, just not super duper great in my mind.

i have a similar interest in seeing 28 weeks later. i'll watch it, probably enjoy it, but i don't think it'll be revolutionary.

Looks fucking crazy, and as far as I can tell, it certainly wouldn't hurt the previous movie's reputation

really though compare it to other zombie flicks..it did break a lot of the firmly placed zombie movie conventions.

i think they face the dilemma of changing too much and alienating the hard core fans but drawing in new fans. OR changing too little to keep the hardcore fans happy and not attracting a new fan base. a common problem of sequels.

i think there is a term for it but it escapes me at the moment. it a common problem for sequels of all media including video games, movies, books, etc.

i didn't like how the infection was instantaneous. a drop of blood in the eye, and 20 seconds later he's completely infected?? i kinda like when the whole zombie thing is in the realm of reality, wherein it's actually a fatal infection that will kill you then cause your corpse to reanimate with the most primal instincts.

I didn't like 28 Day Later the first time I watched it either. Then after like a month after I first watched it I bought it cuz it was on sale for really cheap (I'm a horror fanatic so I seem to buy movies I don't like). Anyway I watched it again and it blew my mind.

You should watch the original Dawn of the Dead. It blows the remake out of the water. You should also check out the original Day of the Dead and Lucio Fulcis Zombie. They are both dark apocalyptic zombie films.

Except that it's a rip off of Day of the Triffids, and Day of the Dead oh and pretty much every single zombie movie ever made!

Well I haven't seen Day of the Triffids and I disagree with the rest of your comment so my statement holds true.

How do you figure it was a rip off of Day of the Dead and all other zombie movies..because it had zombies?

The formula was quite different, and again, it had immersing subtleties that most zombie movies lack.

Yeah definitely not a Day of the Dead ripoff.

I've seen the original Dawn of the Dead, and respect it as such but it doesn't evaporate my mildew if ya know what I mean. Day of the Dead I haven't had the opportunity to see.

What was the one with "the corporation" in the huge tower that supported the "poor" people with supplies for keeping back the zombies? That one wasn't great but I did like the concept.

It's the concept that gets me. A twist with some feasibility behind it. Where the zombies aren't the only things of interest, but the interaction of the people and the surfacing of their deepest personality traits in the face of extreme situations.

Sergeant Farrell: Think! Just Think! What would you do with a diseased little island?
[pause]
Sergeant Farrell: They've quarantined us.

Zombie movies should follow either of 2 scenarios, germ type (virus, disease, etc) OR supernatural type (voodoo, magic, etc.)

To me the germ type should not kill, but instead cause living person to go into zombie mode and have ability to reinfect only through fluid transmission and direct contact with said "germ".

Now, take a look at the "germ warfare" that is possible in the real world. some of that shit is scary. It isn't outside the realm of "reality" that a fluid transmission could cause a person to "zombiefy" in a VERY short time, if the movie followed the "germ type zombie" model.
