I'm just wondering how the most retarded forums can survive for days, while others only last a few hours.

The forums that don't last long are usually the intelligent ones that really make you think. The ones that you people can't get enough of are the kinds of forums that turn into childish arguing. Right when you think it's over, the other guy has to have the last word, and the topic becomes active again. It's as bad as MTV shows. Maybe even worse, because this is the Shroomery....isn't this supposed to be about expanding your mind through sharing information and experiences?

It's interesting but sad to see how the group mentality reflects in the forums. If you agree with me, post something....anything. Just keep this thread around long enough to make sure everyone has a chance to read it. PEOPLE, please try to stop posting shit just for the sake of posting something. With a little thought, we can work together to make this a more interesting place.

I can think of a few "characters" off the top of my head who can understand where I'm coming from here, and I'm expecting to see at least a few of you guys respond!

Completely agreed.

Even in the shroomery people pack together. Its funny you'll get entire groups of people sticking together with completely bullshit arrogant ideas, then one intelligent poster comes along and shoots them all down.

I've always posted my truthful opinion. I don't give a fuck if people can't handle the truth and my ratings reflect that - there's people who insult me just for the fact I admit I've seen UFOs land and stuff. Someone in there went mad calling me a stupid fuckstick!

If only they could see what I've seen I'm sure they'd feel the stupid fuckstick then!

Who are you to dictate any one person or group's posting habits? If you don't find this place interesting, why stick around?

There are plenty of forums here that have plenty of intelligent threads in them. Yeah, not every thread is a winner. But not every thread is pointless drivel, either. I like the way this forum works, especially the Pub. You shoot the shit in here. Do you go to a bar to discuss astrophysics on a Friday night?

If worst comes to worst use the Ignore button.

I've only been here for like, 3 weeks, but I'm seeing THAT more and more every day. All they talk about is sex, selling drugs, getting fucked up, and "robo-tripping".

I'm just here to get an idea of how other trippers around the world think. I'd rather have to go through a lot of shitty threads just to read one good one, than not read any at all. I know the good ones are out there, but they're rare. I just wish that the ratio of shitty to good was a little better, and I know I'm not alone on that. Maybe I'm just hoping that I'll have a temporary impact on what we read for a few days. I know what you mean, though. The few people who would want to discuss something like astrophysics (and do hallucinogens) wouldn't be in bars. They would probably be here, but I just wish they were easier to find. Is there a way to "ignore" whole subjects, or just individuals? As I said earlier, I'm not really a computer person.

In my opinion your views of the forum are a bit idealist. Wherever you have minds meeting in a public forum you will experience every range of conversational topics. Take the forum as it is, with all its flaws and undesirable characters. Your thread is not going to lead to some paradigm shift in the posting habits of fellow Shroomerites.

I know. I just wanted to throw the idea out there. I doubt many people will be like, "Hey, maybe people DON'T want to read about which hand I beat off with." Even in a group called "Shroomery", I guess we still have those types.

the best way you can affect the intellectual climate of this forum is by being an example and posting intelligent posts. :thumbup:

sure, you'll get reactions from people who do not necessarily share your particular interests, but on the other hand you will get some authentic responses from time to time, and more-so-often if you post in a forum known to be browsed by people who are on the same wavelength as you are.

IMO the pub's not always the ideal spot to go about it, but you'll be sure to find more potential for sincere discussion in the philosophy, mystical, or psychedelic forums. :mushroom2:

I wish people would stop whining about the "trolls" around here. The main reason there are so many trolls is because there are so many people here who freak out over the slightest issue and many active mods cater to that mentality by allowing it to happen.. which means that you eventually end up having a large number of people expecting to be coddled by mods/admin.

The Pub is not the place to look for intellectual discussion. Most of the time, what the majority of Pub goers feel is "intellectual" tends to be some kind of circle jerk of stoners elaborating on hippy shit like the environment or drugs.

Go to the proper forum and you'll find what you're looking for if it's here at all. Everything but the Pub and OTD are managed fairly well.. and OTD isn't really managed at all, that's the beauty of it.

As in the good threads, or the bad threads? As I see it, the good threads are the ones that might take a while to read, but they make you stop and think. The bad threads usually make you wish you had the 30 seconds back that you just wasted, reading about some random persons' girlfriend problems. Sometimes it's funny, but I wish there was a way to filter which active topics come through.

Hippie, you've only been around since 2007. This is a huge community now, not every thread is going to be golden. There are plenty of great threads in various forums and dnkyd said it best. 

This is the pub!  A place for laid back discussion, usually about random shit.

Go check out the science, psychedelic and philosophy forums if you can't sit down and talk about sports, women, beer and some of the other laid back things most people talk about in the pub.

But yea, definetely don't hit up otd...garbage dump
