How do i do a screenshot?

Press Print Screen and paste it into MS Paint or any image editing program. If you want to capture something which uses video acceleration (like a game) you'll need a third-party utility.

if you want to make a screenshot of certain application windows press CTRL+PrintScrn and then paste into paint... :wink:

Also, if you don't have a proper program already, I suggest you try Paint.NET (free, from http://www.getpaint.net/index2.html) instead of the old MS Paint. :cool:

And if you want the screen capture to not be compromised (image-quality) when you save it, save it as a PNG (not a JPEG).

You hit the Print Scrn key and then you open up Paint; then you go to Edit > Paste

It should pop up

When you press the Prt Scr button, it captures the currently shown screen and places it on clipboard (for example, when you right-click an image and select to copy it, it is placed on clipboard). Now you have to paste it somewhere, and somewhere is an image editing software, like MS Paint (comes with all Windows versions, you can open it from Start -> Programs -> Accessories -> Paint). To paste it, go to Edit -> Paste (or Ctrl + V) - now you should see the picture there. The next step is to save the image, select File -> Save and choose the location and file type (don't use the .bmp, for example .png is a good choice).

There are other programs to do all those steps by just pressing one button, you can use Google to find one if you have to take several screenshots. :smile:

Yeah because it would suck if you had to go through the trouble to use a seperate application--something that you didn't even know was installed would be ideal. So, what's the app?
