2007 Lightweight Grand Prix

FUCK FUCK FUCK I can't fucking WAIT!!!!


It's going to be fucking AWSOME. Soooo many great fighters, sooo many dream matchups, sooo many great wars to come.

And best thing, it's a 16 man tournament and not an 8 man tournament like the first one.

I hope Dana doesn't go stupid on us and try to up the weight to 170 just so he can butt in his welterweights when he SHOULD be keeping it at 160 and allowing ufc lightweights to participate.

while I know sherk and penn are a small possibility, it would still be awsome for the best of the best to be in this tournament, then we'd definitely have an undisputed #1 at lightweight world wide, something...we've never really seen since Jens Pulver's UFC days.

looks like hughes and sanchez are in the LWGP ...its going to be billed as pride vs ufc ...im guessing they do a 170 and under weight limit

yeah i saw that thing a while back.


i hope it's just a teaser, because it would suck to watch two grown welterweights take on a bunch of lightweights just to make the UFC look good.

Even the bigger lightweights like gomi and kawajiri are used to fighting at 156 back in SHOOTO.

Either way though, I hope hughes gets schooled in the first round, if he is allowed to participate.

Oh yeah, and the first slot into the GP has been taken by old school Pancrase vet, Satoru Kitoaka, who beat Fabricio Monteiro(the guy i thought would win) to earn DEEP's representation into the tournament.

He fights at 170. So I guess the welterweight issue's definitely going to be in effect. It may have very well been pride's original plan.

i'm actually glad it's postponed. They need time to announce matches, secure fighters, amongst other things.

I think it'll be worth the wait.


On a side note, I bought the bodog ppv which was HORRIBLY produced, but watching fedor tool lindland was worth it.

AKA they need more time to arrange UFC fighters to come in, which I think is stupid. Sanchez and Hughes? Christ I hope not.

this way kos vs diego might happen again so soonn and in a pride ring where u cant run in circles around each other so easy


on another note, id love to see tiny aoki submit hughes
