Dream 7, Featherweight tournament
    #9810258 -

Despite the somewhat large field of unknown talent in the featherweight division, this tournament is a pretty interesting campaign for Pride II.

If anything, it brings the weight division to light for more MMA fans by bringing in alot of the talent from Japan's stallwart grassroots organizations, DEEP, ZST, SHOOTO, amongst others.

Keeping in mind, that alot of major talent you see in lightweights around the world also originated from these organizations.

Does the large japanese contingent win through??  There are some interesting fighters to see here, some in critical turning points in their careers.

Takafumi Otsuka, a dangerous fighter, coming off some tough competition like Dos Anjos, and his win over Kanehara to speak of.

Takaya Hiroyuki, a personal favorite.  he's the wild card, because at any moment he can take down a top notch opponent just based on his wreckless style, it leads to swings.

Atsushi Yamamoto was another interesting pick up.  Definitely adds depth to the talent in this field.

Then of course, quite possibly the best 145er in Japan, Imanari.

Hideo Tokoro....he'll put up a good show against whoever he faces, but i don't expect him to make it deep in the tournament.

I like the American contingent in this tournament, being represented by two top notch WEC featherweights, Chase Beebe and Micah Miller.  Micah will present challenges to whoever he faces, and I expect Chase Beebe to go deep in this tournament.  He's only lost to the absolute best in his division, like Urijah Faber.

My dark horse has to be Bibiano Fernandes.  A fighter with tons of natural ability and sick skills, but only recently began realizing his application to MMA.
He's definitely going to show up as the most rapidly improved fighter in the field.

Should be a fantastic tournament.  Winner gets to fight "Kid".

I'm looking way more forward to the welterweight tourney.  If Aoki takes that one too (Yes I consider him the winner of the Lightweight one, fuck Hansen) that'd be awesome.

yeah I agree about Aoki.

He's unbelievable with his ground skills, one of the best at applying his grappling to BJJ.

ANd yeah after he handled Eddie, i consider him the real tourney winner.

His only real problem is how sometimes he willingly takes punishment in order to attempt a submission.

Yeah that's a problem I share with him, and something that always catches up with you eventually.  I still think JZ flash KO'd him with those heels when Aoki was going for the leg, but he came to with the next strike and the ref never saw it.

Who knows

even when he's KOed Aoki still has the same expression on his face.

Masakatsu Imanari would be considered the #1 featherweight if it wasn't for his ventures into 155.
