I am a registered member of the libertarian party. Jury nullification is mabye the most power individuals have in the US. Unfortunately it is, as was stated, not really known about. Look into it dude and educate your friends, etc. Basically the judge is our servent. As a jury we have the power to vote not guilty regardless of overwhelming evidence for any reason we choose (most notably disagreeing with the law, statute, whatever. Even if 20 eye wittnesses see someone murder someone a jury can vote not guilty and the judge can't do shit about it. That's my understanding (albeit an extremely exaggerated example to prove a point). I'm not up to date on the subject, have read about it in the past, and prior to the last time I was a jury member, and seem to remember reading something about lawyers and/or judges sometimes attempting to screen out potential jurors who are familiar with the real power (jury nullification) that the public has.

I have heard of this and read about it as well. There was a supreme court case where the concept of jury nullification was uphelp by the highest court in the land. This is in stark contrast to the instructions most judges now give their juries upon deliberations. It is also illegal to mention jury nulification to the jury in your arguments if you're a defense attorney even though it's not illegal for the jury to nullify.
